SHEREE'S STORY:
Sheree, a Maltepoo, came to us on October 31, 2004, almost completely blind, with congestive heart failure. She had gone through heartworm treatment like a trooper regardless of her condition. Left to die by a puppymill breeder, because she was too old to breed and very ill with mammary tumors and abcessed teeth, she was rescued and finally received the care and love she deserved. She lived a good life with us and enjoyed the sunlight, grass and fresh air, and got lots and lots of love. She had lived in a cage without care for all these years. Sheree lived a terrific 3 1/2 months with us until she let us know it was time to go. Sheree crossed the Rainbow Bridge on February 19, 2005, loved and cherished.
This is for you my pretty blonde and for all those like you who deserve a good home, love and the best care. You were a one-in-a-million dog. I will always miss you.
SILKY'S STORY:
Silky was the first to come into our home on October 9, 2003, skinny, flea-ridden, scared. Within a short time after her adoption, we realized she was mama's soulmate. She was a blessing. She was a very intelligent 5-year old miniature Schnoodle and she crossed the Bridge much to early. Silky used to guide Sheree and Suyin around the yard. We miss her everyday and probably will forever. Silky died of pancreatic cancer and 5 years old. She was and remains mom's most precious girl.
SOLEIL'S STORY:
Soleil, our brindle old Shih Tzu, was another puppymill breeder's dog. She joined the family on November 26, 2004. It took a lot of patience to teach Soleil to trust humans, but she made it. At 12 years young, she brings us a lot of joy and fun.
SUYIN'S STORY:
Suyin and Onyx came to us in February 2005. Suyin, a beautiful Lhasa Apso, deaf and blind, was an older girl who's life had been pretty rough. She crossed the Bridge during surgery three weeks after we adopted her, on February 22, 2005.
ONYX'S STORY:
Onyx, our little 12-year old Shih Tzu, was adopted the same day Suyin was. He was heartworm positive and we took him in during his treatment. Unfortunately, his lungs were too far gone and he didn't survive the treatment. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge the next day Suyin passed, on February 23, 2005, in mommie's loving arms.
PRECIOUS'S STORY:
Precious was greeted in March, 2005. At 13 years old, she is enjoying her new life with her siblings. Regardless of her health problems, she is the sweetest Tzu around!
UPDATE : On January 6, 2006, Precious crossed the Rainbow Bridge and went to join Sheree, Suyin, Onyx and Panda. She let us know it was time to go. We miss her alot, especially Soleil, our other Shih Tzu, who was very close to her. Precious, you were dearly loved and we will always miss you.
PANDA'S STORY:
Unfortunately, Panda, a Terrier mix, was not with us for very long. Still he touched our hearts. He crossed the Bridge at 1 1/2 years old.
PEPPER'S STORY:
Pepper... He's our bouncy 13-year young Silky Terrier boy. When we adopted him in May, 2005, Pepper was blind with cataracts. He had been abandoned on a busy highway. He was rescued on a rainy day, on the highway... blind. The first thing he did was to give kisses to the person who rescued him. Pepper went through cataract surgery and, since June 1st, he got his eyesight back. He is adorably obnoxious and we love him to pieces! All Pepper wants is to give kisses and be loved on.
UPDATE: 10/09/07
Our little Pepper crossed the Bridge in mommy's arms on Sept. 24 2007 after his kidneys failed. He was 13 1/2 years old. He was my shadow, my precious and happy boy. The house is so empty without you, my boy.
GUIMAUVE'S STORY:
Guimauve is a ball of fire! At 4 years old, you'd think he's a pup! The most cuddly little Bolognese around. He has quite an attitude. A lion trapped in a Bolognese body! Guimauve had to have extensive training to correct his aggressive behavior towards humans and other animals. He passed with flying colors and lets human pet him when he goes for walks. He even enjoys it too!
MADDIE'S STORY:
Our Giant Schnoodle Maddie... Our special girl. She was rescued and joined our family in July, 2005. She had been stabbed by her previous owner, had a broken femur; she was heartworm positive and had Sarcophic Mange. Luckily, her previous owner was caught in the act of hurting her and she was taken away from him. Maddie had surgery to repair her hip and femur and with time and care, the stabwounds and Mange healed. She went through her heartworm treatment with flying colors and we started physiotherapy and hydrotherapy with her. She simply hated it, but now she runs like a pro on her four legs! She is one happy girl with her siblings and she gets a lot of love and attention.
SAMMIE'S STORY:
Sammie, a 6 1/2-year old purebred miniature Poodle girl. She used to be a puppymill mama, living a miserable existence. Sammie is a delightful, affectionate little lady. She adapted very quickly to our family and loves to play with the other dogs. She is still a little scared but that will all get better with time and patience. She enjoys to sleep in mama's bed and got used to being spoiled very fast. We are so happy to have Sammie in our home, especially Guimauve who became her favorite play pal.
KINKO'S STORY:
The minute we saw these eyes, we could not resist. Kinko is a gorgeous Miniature Poodle boy and we estimate him to be between 8 and 10 years old. He was abandoned by his previous owners and ended up in a rescue. His foster mom told me he was totally terrified when he arrived at her house. He simply didn't know why he was there and didn't trust these new humans one bit. She finally was able to approach him with a bit of food but that took a couple of days. He has a 2/6 heart murmur and a cataract in the right eye, but it doesn't affect his quality of life. Kinko is now a big part of our family as we adopted him. He is the most cuddly and affectionate boy and he loves to sit next to our lap and be loved on.
PEECKABOO'S STORY:
She was rescued from a nasty puppymill in Missouri in May 2007, where she was bred almost to death. She was brought down to Texas where a local rescue took over her care. During her spay, the vet found a tumor and it was removed. One month later, she still had health problems and went back to surgery. Our vet removed another tumor attached to her bladder and bowels. Since it was very close to her kidneys, he was worried about her. After analysis, we were told it was benigne. Peeckaboo has severe skin issues, probably due to malnutrition. She is on Omega and supplements to help with the rashes. Regardless of her health problems, she is sweet, funny and cute as a button! She is enjoying her new life to the fullest with her new siblings. She is very insecure and we are working on socialization with her. She loves to go for walks and runs to everybody she meets to be loved on.
VANILLA'S STORY:
We went out for grocery and came back with... a dog! SPCA was holding and Adopt-a-Pet day on Oct. 27, 2007, in the parking lot of our local grocery store. We debated for awhile and finally decided to go in the van, just to see the babies. We saw this beautiful little Schnoodle girl of 7. She was recently rescued during a puppy mill bust. She has no hair on her behind and the coat is coarse. Her teeth are awful and she has other health issues that will be taken care of shortly. Vanilla is the sweetest little girl and so affectionate. She has a lot to discover and learn and she is so eager to please. She adapted to the pack immediately and they greated her as part of them right away.
