Welcome to my auctions. I am a wildcrafter, artist, and writer living in the foothills of the Cumberland Mountains. I I left the hills to study art in Europe and earned my MFA from the University of Visual Arts and Music in Bremen, Germany. I lived in Germany for 14 years, but my heart stayed right here the whole time just waiting for me to come home again.
My inspiration has always been the beauty and mystery of the hills. While I still might do an occasional painting, my main form has evolved past the two dimensional to objects made from the forest itself. I adore Japanese Honeysuckle vine, milkweed and sassafrass. I cultivate gourds, broom corn and other plants to use in my art. My materials, like me, must have their roots in the earth. I sell honeysuckle and seeds and all manner of plants from the forest floor in my auctions. You will most always see vintage items there also as I enjoy wildcrafting from the local flea markets.
March starts the honeysuckle season for me and I look forward to it all year long. I love going out and digging the plants - it's just what I need to break the laziness of winter. I have been selling honeysuckle for about 3 years now and never stop learning how to make and ship better products. The most challenging vines are the huge 18-24 ft. ones that I patiently unwind from the tops of trees. The roots are huge and I dig them with utmost care and patience to preserve all the fine roots.
My husband and I offer conceptual art events also from time to time which which stem from our love of the hills and understanding of how important it is to feel a connection with the earth. These pieces also incorporate a service for scattering cremains in a dignified, spiritual manner. I list this as Ashes to Art from time to time - if you don't see a listing just email me and I will run one for you.
