Welcome To all About Me!
I'm glad you stopped by to visit my page. This is all new to me and I find myself at a loss...what to say, how to tell you a little about me and my family, as well as what I do here on ebay.
Let's start with what I do here ~ I find so much pleasure in re-purposing vintage linens, though I haven't had much time the last several months to do just that! I enjoy finding the linens and appreciate the skill and time that went into creating the beautiful embroidery, crochet, tatting and lace work. So much is simply discarded and lost to us forever. I enjoy rescuing these treasures and turning them into something new that can be enjoyed and shared for years to come. In the meantime, I also enjoy sprucing up vintage linens (cleaning them, repairing them) and offering them on ebay.
I am also very pleased to be part of a fantastic group of sellers on ebay, P.E.P. Not only do they all "paint ebay pretty" every day, they are a dedicated group of hard working, thoughtful and talented people who understand all that goes into being part of a family, getting the bills paid and taking care of business while still having fun!
Speaking of family ~ here's a bit about our family. I have had the pleasure of being married to my very best friend for many years now. We've raised four amazing children who are all grown now, ages 30-38. Our youngest son is getting married in January at Pebble Beach and we are counting the days til we fly out from Oregon to join the entire family for the big event. We are currently raising 3 more amazing kiddos who are 12-16. The older group of kids were all athletes and really good students; this younger group (oh my, how times have changed!) are really good students (we homeschool 2 of the 3) and are very active in community theatre...acting, singing, backstage work, as well as making their own videos.
We live on a beautiful mountain top on the central coast of Oregon ~ we have forest and ocean, lots of wind and rain during the winter, and the most glorious spring, summer and fall days. When it's wet here, it is really wet...and windy...and cold...and did I mention wet? But the other 9 months of the year, we have some of the bluest sky and greenest greens you'll ever see. I love driving through the canopies of trees on some of the roads around here and, let me tell you, there is simply not much that is sweeter than sitting on your front deck, watching a mama deer and her babies eat in your front yard. We've learned that they think all my pansies are planted just for their pleasure. They keep the bird feeders empty, too, which is great fun to watch as they manage to tip them up and pour the seed into their mouths. We've got all the requisite forest critters living on our property and catching them just being them is always one of our very favorite things to do.
I work for a fishing cooperative here on the coast and have been blessed to be able to do that from home, thanks to my willing bosses. I also design and make costumes for the local community theaters ~ hundreds of costumes ~ it is exhausting but boy, is it ever fun! I love seeing my work up on the stage performance after performance. Currently, I'm working on costumes for The Taming of the Shrew and then I'll be moving onto costuming the entire cast of Oliver! The kids have either acted in or worked backstage on Seussical the Musical, Fiddler on the Roof, Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music, Beauty and the Beast, Wit, Charlotte's Web over the last couple of years. My husband designs and builds sets for the theater groups, as well as making happen all those wild ideas I come up with for furniture or the famous (or is it infamous?) Honey Do List!
My Mom lives up here now, too. She and my dad came up here several years ago and after he passed, she stayed and has really learned to love it here. She lives in a charming apartment, tucked into the woods and collects dolls and does beautiful, beautiful embroidery work. Her dog is psychotic but that keeps her active!
Well, I'm running out of wind here and I need to get running on my day! But I want to suggest one thing to anyone who may be reading this. We currently support three soldiers by sending cards, letters and care packages several times a month. They really enjoy hearing from us and opening the packages ~ they say it's like Christmas every time ~ and it is our way of showing our support of the sacrifices they make by being away from the families, friends and home. I don't want to discuss politics; for us this has nothing to do with politics but just with doing the right thing to help someone else. So, think about it and if you'd like to do just this one small thing, visit www.soldiersangels.org and join in. It is a very fulfilling venture to be part of.
One last thing ~ I'm a breast cancer survivor and so I always remind every woman I meet to get their mammograms!
P.E.P is a fabulous group of eBay sellers dedicated to keeping eBay pretty
by offering some of the loveliest items on eBay.
