Auctions...Helping Artists In Need
Music helps us through our hard times, isn't it time we helped musicians through theirs? The money raised from this auction will go directly to Sweet Relief's fund.
You're a songwriter; an instrumentalist; a vocalist; a composer; a one-hit wonder. You're in a baby band, a bar band, a jazz combo, or a classical symphony. You have hepatitis C. Your tour van crashed. You have a brain tumor. You're old. Your rent is months overdue. Your bank account contains $3.04. You have eight potatoes, period. You can use some Sweet Relief. Sweet Relief is committed to helping musicians suffering from a full range of illnesses, disabilities and health conditions. The Fund was founded by singer/songwriter Victoria Williams and other members of the music community when, in 1993, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Top recording stars including Lou Reed, Pearl Jam, Lucinda Williams and Matthew Sweet banded together to record an album, the proceeds of which partly went to form the Fund. Since then, Sweet Relief has grown to be one of the leading entertainment industry charities, helping musicians of all types through their hard times. Throughout history, musicians have lead uncertain lives, often sacrificing financial security and health in order to serve the muse within. Sweet Relief provides a safety net for artists who are facing illness, in real financial need, and have nowhere else to turn for funds. Grant recipients include recording artists, club and session musicians, composers and songwriters from across the country. Sweet Relief also provides assistance to older musicians, regardless of medical condition, for basic living expenses.
