Hi -
First off, let me introduce myself... My name is Sue Diederich. I am a history buff, with a love for baking and making all sorts of sweet things. I am also an avid crafter - everything from crochet to beadwork.
I am lucky enough to have found a way to indulge all of these passions. In that light, Candlewood Sutlery & Mercantile was born. This is the company name under which I sell my baked goods, candies, preserves and crafts.
For those who are wondering, a sutler was a sort of travelling general store during the Civil War. Sutlers were 'attached' to the armies, and provided for the soldiers what the military and the government could not. These items included fresh produce, baked goods, sweets, and items to send home to the wives, mothers, sisters and sweethearts left behind for the battlefield.
I have been selling my products at farmers' markets and re-enactments for over ten years, and have finally been dragged (kicking and screaming) into the 21st century - thus the Sweet Remembrances store!
In addition to my food items and crafts, I also sell Watkins products, which are used in nearly all of my baked goods and mixes.

Just a quick note: I am sorry to all those who tried to contact me between November 10 and December 10. I was in the process of moving back into my parents' home to take care of my Mother who had lung cancer. She died on Thanksgiving Day, 2004. The same evening, I was admitted to the hospital. On returning to my new home, I found I had to get a new internet provider, and consequently was not online for an entire month.
I wanted to personally thank everyone not only for their patience in awaiting answers to questions and concerns, but also for their thoughts and prayers. It means a lot to know there are people who care, though we may never have met. Thank You!
