My little dancers at 2006 summer recital
|
In 2004 my life turned upside down, and money became tight. A dear friend of mine asked me to be her seller's assistant - she needed help getting her inventory up on Ebay, and offered a portion of the profits for my work. I had a great time doing it - we'd thrift shop together, than watch our listings like men watch a football game. I was completely hooked. Eventually, I was back on my feet, and my friend's business started to change - fewer items, but selling for more - so I decided to branch out on my own. It was a fun little hobby, and easy to keep up even with four children in the house

2006 Banks Day Parade
|
Then, Christmas 2006 arrived. When I took a long look at my bank account, I realized that my little hobby had some real income potential. At that point I decided to become a business, investing a good portion of my 'hobby' profits to upgrade. My friend "Piwykit" taught me lots about the higher-end department store brands, so I've mainly stayed with those items. They are clothes and accessories that I would enjoy owning, but can't pay retail for. I've also started branching out into selling my own handcrafted jewelry, both here on eBay and other sites. : I still enjoy scouring the thrift stores in my area, hunting for great bargains - and yes, I do keep a few (don't tell my husband!), but most go into my auctions and store. More and more though, I find myself searching for sales on new items at places like Nordstrom's, Macy's, and Saks. It's making my store a bit bipolar, but I love it - I have both brand new, trendy items, and classic gently used clothes for under $20 side by side. And in case you're wondering - when it comes to used items, I only sell items I would wear in public - no visible stains, rips, obvious repairs, etc of course, but also nice quality, with fabrics that feel good, cuts that flatter, styles that are made to last.
And I still watch my listings with great fascination....
Since I have a day job, kids, and all those listings to work on, this page is rather simple and static - sorry! I'm currently working on a new custom storefront with FAQs, more about my business, etc - when I can find time, that is. In the meantime, feel free to contact me about anything: TexasTesla
