Why are some of your older motorcycles listed as xempt and don't have titles?

In New Hampshire , any motorcycle 15 years or older, or under 50cc s is considered exempt and will not be issued a title. This is pursuant to RSA 261:3 of the Motor Vehicle Laws of the State of New Hampshire . The RSA reads, "No title or duplicate title will be issued on any exempt vehicle, even by request". This does not mean that you will not be able to title this vehicle in your state! Check with your department of motor vehicles about your specific state requirements. SCAM AUCTIONS

How can you tell if the auction you are looking at is a scam? Here are some items to look out for:

  • Extemely low buy it now prices -- As much as we all would like to believe it, you just cannot buy a new Harley Davidson Electra Glide for $5000! Here is a great place to use your common sense. The old saying is true, "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is".
  • Location -- Most of the scams are originating overseas. Typically the seller will email you in broken english with some sort of hardluck sobstory like his child has cancer and they need to raise money immediately. They will tell you that the bike is in perfect condition but it is currently in Greece, Italy, or whatever and that they need to finish the transaction extremely quickly.
  • Free Shipping -- While some sellers will actually pay for shipping when the buy it now price is paid, it is extremely unlikely that somebody located overseas is going to pay the $2000 it would cost to ship the bike to your door. Another giveaway is if they say that they will use a company like UPS or Fedex.
  • Inconsistent or stolen pictures -- Many times you will see these too good to be true prices with pictures of a bike that you saw on ebay previously. Obviously, since these scam artists don't actually have the bike that is being advertised they are using photos that they stole from the actual seller. Ask them to send you a picture of the bike with their local newspaper on the seat.
  • Western Union Payment -- You have to be out of your mind to send somebody overseas a payment using Western Union. You have no recourse and you are essentially handing them cash. Scam artists use fake names, get the cash, and are never seen again. DO NOT SEND MONEY VIA WESTERN UNION.

FRAUDELENT EMAILS TO BIDDERS

Now the scam artists are not even bothering to list on ebay, as they can simply click on your ebay id and send you an email!!

  • Bogus offers to bidders -- If you are bidding on a motorcycle you will most likely get emails with offers like "Hi, I see that you are bidding on a XXXXXXXX. I want to let you know that I have the same bike in perfect condition. My price is XXXXXX. If you are interested please get back to me" Again, a lot of these emails will be poorly typed and have improper english. They will ask that you send a deposit using Western Union.

EXAMPLES:
Offer through ebays email system.
Offer through direct email.

  • Fake Second Chance offers -- If you receive any sort of second chance offer email on our bikes call us! Although we occasionally do send our underbidders second chance offers if the high bidder falls through, we generally just relist the bikes back on eBay. On ALL of our second chance emails, we offer to send you a second chance offer directly through ebay and we do NOT offer to make sales off of ebay. Most of the fake second chance emails are just done through ebays email system, but we have seen some that are extremely good looking HTML emails that look like they came from ebay.

EXAMPLES: Very real looking fake 2nd chance offer email

To Summarize:

If it looks too good to be true, it is!

Don't send money via Western Union.

Call the seller.

If you receive any of these fraudulent emails please forward them to us at info@nationalpowersports.net. We will continue to add them to this page as we get them and work hard to remove the scam artists from ebay. If you feel that you might have received any of these fake offers just pick up the phone and call me at 1-603-410-4120. Thanks for reading!!
