Here at eBay we sell Antique Steamer Trunks
with flat tops, humpbacks, low-profiles, wardrobe and other varieties as we
locate them. All trunks are found in poor condition and are restored into
functioning condition for many future years of use.
When restoring trunks we use the finest
available materials and only change broken parts such as locks, strapping and
handles. Loose tacks and trunk nails are replaced. We remove old paper, canvas,
and clean off all rusty parts. Metal trim is polished or painted depending on
the original design. All polished metal is finished with a clear satin enamel to
preserve its restored look.
When old musty canvas is removed the
exposed pine boards and hardwood slats are treated with up to 6 coats of Tung
oil, which was used in the manufacturing period. Metal trunks are either cleaned
and left to their original patina or painted to fit the period motif and if the
metal has shown to much wear over the years.
The Glass Cottage does not rush the
restoration process, it's important to bookmark our page and return frequently
to check our inventory. It should be noted that these trunks are very old and
will retain original markings, dents and blemishes that occurred with time. We
repair broken items but do not make any attempt to change the appearance from
normal wear and tear of these well traveled items.

payment confirmation, and the entire shipping process thru delivery. If at

Shipping
and Handling
Shipping and handling does
not mean "postage only." The Glass Cottage is committed to using
excellent packing materials and shipping in an expeditious, cost effective
manner to ensure prompt delivery and that all purchases arrive in good
condition. Shipping takes place within 72 hours of payment receipt and
confirmation. All shipments are now shipped via UPS Ground with tracking
information made available to each customer via
our shipping notification email. Buyer's should recognize my policy on
returns when deciding not to choose the insurance option for your purchase.
Insurance is highly recommended and required on some purchases.
Merchandise
Returns
If for some reason your
purchase is returned based on mutual agreement because of breakage, damage,
malfunction for a reason that may have occurred during the shipping process a
full refund of the original purchase price excluding shipping costs will be
made only for buyer/bidder paid insured items. Buyer assumes the cost of
shipping returns, which will be part of all insurance claims. All returns must
be made in original or like original packaging via the same shipping method
within seven days of delivery. Please, do not wait to return an item. If
any item of merchandise does not reflect the listing description, is not
visibly altered or damaged in transit a full refund will be made excluding
return shipping costs. Refunds do not include any PayPal Fees.
