Mimi Fishman Foundation News
As many of you know Mimi Fishman and I started the Mimi Fishman Foundation approximately 2 years ago.....and unfortunately, as many of you also know, Mimi passed away a few months ago.
I was aware that many out there were touched by Mimi, but it wasn't until the last few weeks.....when receiving letters full of wonderful stories about Mimi from so many of you....that I truly realized just how many people were positively touched by Mimi. Reading the letters, which are still arriving, has helped in such a great way with my healing process. I thank everyone that have taken the time to do so....it's very much appreciated.
I am pleased to announce.although very much in the early planning stages we are working on a tribute show. At this point it looks like possibly in Syracuse, taking place in mid-late September, 2001. Far too early to mention who might participate, however we are hoping to include some folks that have played in Mimi's infamous b-day party shows over the last 5 years. Of course much depends on everyone's schedules and availability. As in all past b-day party shows, Brandon Berry (Highpeaks Productions) will be very instrumental in putting this event together. I have included some information regarding Brandon and Mimi's past b-day party benefit shows below as well. Without doubt, we will release more specific information as it becomes available.
Our plans are to continue the Foundation, including the on-line charity auctions.....and continue to contribute to the fine charities that were important to Mimi. We know this is exactly what she would want.
Once again, I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all the letters and donations made to the Foundation in honor of Mimi. We will be announcing several grants in the very near future to charities that were important to Mimi. Mimi Fishman Foundation Tribute Auction
We would like to pass many thanks to those that donated the items for bid. Your kindness is so very appreciated and will always be remembered.
Obviously a major change has taken place in the way we run the auctions. For the items that don't involve guest passes for shows, we have decided to use eBay. This change will allow you as a bidder quicker feedback on your bid, options to use the "automatic bid" functions, as well as the other options eBay offers. We hope you find the change one for the better.
Let me say you will be bidding on what I feel is truly a unique opportunity. Let also not forget the purpose of the auction, which is to raise money for The American Glaucoma Society, while also paying tribute to Mimi. So bid often, bid high, and best of luck!!!!
