About the Baker

Hello Cupcakes! My name is "Baker April" ~ I am a stay at home mother of 2 beautiful little girls. Kaity who is almost 8 and Abby (aka Bunky) who is 2 and 1/2. I'm married to my childhood sweetheart & even after knowing him since I was 9, I am still head over heels for him. We've been a military family for almost 12 years now until last year when we decided it was time to move on. I am very proud of my husband for serving our country for all those years and I look forward to always serving him as a loving and loyal wife and mother.

I collect the strangest things. Lately, my obsession with cupcakes is growing. I've been slowly decorating my entire kitchen in them. I got a great find recently (on eBay of course) for a cupcake clock that I admire every time I am in there cooking.

I've always been a bit of a day dreamer. I was home schooled my entire life and I think that shaped me different than most. Instead of having friends my age, I enjoyed helping and watching my parents run their trucking business. It grew from delivering newspapers and tow trucking into a 6 fleet full fledged trucking company. My father had a heart attack and they had to downgrade down to 1 truck, which he now drives. He just quit smoking after 40+ years and we are so proud of him! Way to go Dad!! :)

I'm very close to God and I attribute all of my Blessings to Him. We all have hard times but faith keeps us strong.

The Bakery started off as "Bunky's Toys", so named after my youngest daughter. Back in Christmas of 2007 I had purchased some toys for my girls that were kitchen play. I grew up with the "Fun with Food" Fisher Price line and I knew it was something they could share and enjoy together. With the economy squeeze as well I needed something I could give to them both. Long story short, the toys arrived and I knew I just had to sell them myself.

A few months later, I had a business licence and some starting inventory. I started to list on eBay and the toys were a hit!

A few more months later I renamed to "The Toy Bakery" because I wanted to specialize in play foods, tea sets and all things related to it.

Since my very short run here with eBay, the store has been featured in several publications with eBay. I truly thank them for acknowledging me and for all the warm wishes. I was actually able to fly out and meet some of the eBay staff back in May of 2008 for their "Voices" program. What a wonderful and life changing experience. I'll never forget any of it!
