Payment Options and Other Policies

I never charge for the use of PayPal, and I accept every form of PayPal payment, including e-checks.

My Mailing Rates and Procedures...

I do my best to charge only the fees the Post Office charges me. I include a fee for delivery confirmation tracking on all total sales below $50.00 that don't carry insurance, certified, or signature confirmation status. Above $50.00, I charge for signature confirmation if the shipment is not insured or certified (or registered).

Note: UPS, FedEx, or DHL are available upon request. Other options may be available as well. Passenger pigeons? They're extinct, and their weight limit was very low anyway, only about 1 ounce. But if you live in San Juan Capistrano, CA, I would be willing to look into swallow delivery if you order when they come back to roost.

If you wish really exotic postal services (foreign delivery company, armoured guard, Secret Service detail, delivery by Delta Force insertion team, etc), just be ready to pay.

Details On Your Options

Priority Mail: On clothing sales, United States Postal Service Priority Mail (a form of first class) is my default shipping option.

Express Mail: Even quicker than Priority, with a money back guarantee if not delivered the next day (to most places). It does cost about $20, more for international. I list it as one of the options in my invoices. If it won't make it by the next day, I will do my best to let you know. An example was after Katrina; all mail service, including Express, was suspended for a while, whether you put 42¢ or $42,000 worth of postage on the item.

Media Mail and Parcel Post are ground services that take a little longer; I use these for very heavy lots or for books and the like.

All other premium services are also available, upon request, at the regular USPS fees. This includes certified, registered, signature confirmation, insured, and so forth. Please specify any extra services that you might desire, and I will quote you a price on them.

International Shipping: The USPS has equivalents of the above for international mail. Recently, the USPS consolidated their services of Letter and Parcel Post into First Class International, which is my default method of sending along with Global Priority Mail (up to 4 pounds for the former, and varying from 22 to 66 pounds on the latter).

NOTE: Due to the complexity and bureaucracy of international mail, please give it a little extra time to arrive. Most mail routes through intermediate countries, and each one has its own rules for inspection, onward shipping, etc.

You may note that I nearly always use stamps for postage rather than simply buying the meter stamp at the window. I have always felt our postal service charges too much. Thus, I buy almost all my stamps from a coin shop; most are years old, so the post office burned through the original purchase price way back. All I am doing is calling in their obligation- they get no current money to waste. I believe if everyone did this for 3 months or so, the USPS would have to ask what was up, and perhaps improve services and lower fees.

If you buy more than one package, you'll also see that no two stamp formations are alike- every package is adorned differently, like snowflakes. My envelopes are true collector's items :)

Forms of Payment Accepted:

PayPal. Ships by next business day. Offers payments in six popular currencies (US$, C$, A$, pounds sterling, euro, and yen) to many countries. And I am... as well as (eBay verified)

As for other options, all of which are sanctioned and approved by eBay on their acceptable payment media page:

AllPay is a self-pay option for residents of the United Kingdom. You would pay me via going there and sending funds through their protocols, which I must say I am not totally familiar with.

Cash 2 India is similar to PayPal, and focuses, not surprisingly, on Indian buyers and/or sellers.

Checkfree is something of a recurring-bill service, like what you would pay your phone bill with. However, if you want to shop regularly with me (I sure hope so!), this might just work for you.

International buyers, I've got your answer to PayPal if it doesn't serve your country! Moneybookers has simplified its interface, and eBay has officially sanctioned its use, so I am proud to offer it. Apparently, there are no forbidden lands with Moneybookers, as you can pay anyone with an email address. Plus, you can use any of the currencies listed here.

Money orders (domestic USA and international), cashier's checks (domestic/foreign), certified checks, and the like: highly preferred options, ship by next business day. Fully convertible international money orders/cashier's checks are not subject to the foreign checks clearance requirement I have below, as they are already paid for. However, I reserve the right to check for authenticity.

Personal or Company Checks: I accept them, though I reserve the right to let them clear. If I decide to let a check clear, I will let you know. Foreign checks must clear before shipping and must be in one of the currencies listed below.

Currency: eBay, as of 15 January 2006, officially forbade sellers from "requesting or requiring" payment in cash for lots or services. Thus, I can't state that I accept cash for transactions. My suggestion in such a case would be a(n international) postal money order; they cost less than a dollar. Failing that, if you just tell me you're sending cash and that you accept the risks inherent therein, well, I can't stop you from doing so, I'll be happy to be paid, and I'll ship as if it were a PayPal transaction *wink*.

If you wish to send a check/mo/cc in some other country's money, please let me know and I will see what I can do; most currencies I can exchange (e.g., Icelandic kronur, Danish krones, the yen, Swiss francs), though there may be some soft currencies I can't (Zambian kwachas, Mongolian tugriks, Ghanaian cedis, Bhutanese ngultrums, Mozambican meticals, Starfleet credits, etc).

If you prefer some method of payment not mentioned herein, I shall endeavour to work with you, consistent with eBay's policies. I can't accept any online payment service other than the ones eBay allows. I also do not take wire transfers or Western Union. Their rules, not mine *shrug*. If I had it my way, I would take anything you could come up with that would pay me straightaway, but since I don't rule the world, well, there you go.

Communication

After your auction concludes, I will contact you with an official invoice/e-mail. If I have other information, I will send you a follow-up. You may also contact me at my e-mail at any time.

Oh, I can communicate with you in several languages! :) I use Systransoft's Translation Tool for any languages I don't speak, which is every one but English. It may be a bit choppy, but if you prefer Dutch or French, we can talk sine dicentes quam turris Babelianus... si cognoscis, et scio te non cognoscere :D << you know, not being able to communicate :p This utility also translates whole pages, so feel free to use it on any of my lots for your convenience.

I offer gift services! On request, I will ship to your gift recipient. You can get a small gift card, like the ones in floral arrangements, for 5¢, and a giftwrap in standard paper for 25¢. Gifts made easy! For this service, I do require at least signature confirmation if the package is being mailed to a third party.

Feedback

I always leave feedback. For sales, I leave feedback on receipt of payment if PayPal, money order, cashier's check, or any other instantly negotiable medium. For checks, depending on the circumstances I may wait until they clear.

I never require feedback be left first from the buyer. However, I do request that buyers leave feedback if they are satisfied, and that they leave feedback for each individual lot. Also, if you aren't happy with whatever, please let me set things straight before leaving less-than-positive commentary. I have 100% +++ feedback because I -will- make it right.

Sniping

I like sniping; the strategy is neat. If you wish to do so, by all means do. My suggestion, if you don't agree with this manner of last-second manoeuvring, is to place your maximum offer the first time you bid, preferably early in the auction. That way, if someone outbids your do-not-exceed price, well, all that can be said is that they topped you, be it 5 days or 5 seconds from the auction close. They were just willing to spend more; they may be a spendthrift. A thought: if you're bidding against Donald Trump for something he wants, he's probably going to win- no matter when he places his bid. Basically, he can pay more for it than you, unless you're Warren Buffett or Bill Gates or Paris Hilton. I know it is disappointing to see your bid go down the drain before you can respond, though I reiterate that if you raise your paddle for your maximum, and early, you have nothing to be sad about. You did the best your wallet would permit, and that's all we can ask of anyone :)

If you don't agree with sniping or if you believe in auctions with a fluid end (like Yahoo), I would love to hear your reasons and why you feel that way; perhaps there is something I'm missing in the argument. I have an open mind.
