I am a mother with three wonderful children who is trying to get out of the rut of making somebody else money. We live in a small Iowa community where we have been raised to be good honest people. I am also married to a wonderful and hard working husband, Trent. He takes care of all of my technical issues while I handle the day to day auction listings, sales, shipping, and promoting of our store. Currently we specialize in selling high quality ball caps, military ball caps, boonie hats, bucket hats, and wind socks.
On October 31st of 2007 at around 1:25 PM CST we hit the 500 feedback mark and received our purple star from ebay. The best part about it is that we did it with a 100% feedback rating!
UPDATE:
On March 12, 2008 in the wee hours of the morning we received our 1000th positive feedback from one of our many great customers which has earned us a red star. This is another great milestone for us and proves that providing high quality customer service really does pay. How did we achieve this awesome goal that we had set?
When we first set out to build our ebay store. We spent days researching how to take care of our potentially new clients before ever even opening the store. The one thing that we strongly believed in, was that we wanted to provide our customers with a great, easy, and affordable shopping experience! Our next goal was to provide them with the high quality service that we would expect. This was our pledge not only to ourselves but to our future customers as well.
What did we do when we had problems?
The answer to this is easy for us. We handled the problems with speed and respect. We threw our emotions out the door and handled any issues that came our way with care. If an item had any damages, which only happened twice, we respectfully exchanged the item. If the problem was associated with international shipping, because the product was taking forever to arrive. We provided our international customer with all of the information that we had and then politely asked them to check with their local customs or postal office to get help locating the item. 99% of the time the item was already in their country but was being held up by the customs office which is an unfortunate but common occurance.
Inflated Shipping Prices
Even though it is against eBay's policies, some sellers inflate their shipping costs to conceil the true price of their products. We charge reasonable shipping on all of our items. We include a small amount for the purchase of shipping supplies and the time used to prepare the items for shipping. If we can't provide you a fairly priced item with fair shipping rates, then we have no business selling on eBay. Do a few searches for the items that we sell and see what others charge for their shipping and you will get a thorough understanding of what I am talking about in this section.
The most important things
Our products and services are a direct reflection of us! That means that everything we sell is one with our family. When we sell our items we are one with the entire sales process by providing quick responses to questions and helping our customers with any issues they might have. When we prepare the item for shipping, we are one with the shipping process by making sure the item is going to arrive in excellant condition and shipping the item as quickly as possible. Even if it costs us a few more cents to ship it the right way. It's worth it! A perfect example would be our ball caps. We ship them in a box that is big enough for them to fit in without smashing them. Others like to cut corners and shove the same items into an envelope causing the cap to be smashed during the shipping process. To us, that is disrespectful to our customers and the products both! In order to offer our customers a more affordable shipping option for their new boonie hats, we have started to offer them in a smaller and lighter box in which the boonie hat comes neatly folded. Keep in mind that the boonie hats are considered crushable and this does not harm the hat. If our customers prefer to have their new boonie hat shipped without being folded we have also chosen to offer Priority Shipping at a reduced rate. We also understand that we live in an 'I Have to Have it Now' society. To us that means that we need to ship this item right away! This is also why we do not drop ship our items. If we do not have it in our little storage room, it doesn't get listed.
Excuses! Who has excuses!
Who has excuses? I think everyone likes to find excuses. The big problem is that excuses are what they are. Just a cop out for why you didn't want to get it done right or at all. If anyone has excuses, my wife and I have plenty. We have 3 wonderful children that keep us extremely busy. On top of that Jodi works a full time job and takes care of the house and all of the eBay issues during the week. I (Trent) work a job that is equivalent to 2 1/2 full time jobs for most people. However, we made a commitment to do this and we are going to do it the right way! I handle most technical issues and sometimes that involves walking Jodi through them over the phone and other times, like today, I am actually able to sit at the computer and do a lot of updating. Jodi takes care of the day to day questions, problems, and shipping. Everything in life is about either committing yourself or not. Our belief is to give 150% effort to everything that we commit ourselves to. This is an important key to our success! Not only here on ebay but in every day life.
