In 2004-2007, Brian decided to promote his business and the hobby aggressively on NYC television programs. He appeared on local programs as an expert collector in the field to offer his knowledge on vintage cards & explain the wide spread (hobby) business to the viewing public. His goal in doing what he called "His NYC TV card tour" was to promote the already popular multi-million dollar card hobby more in his home town NYC (the sports Capital of the world) to hopefully get more kids involved in collecting like he did. Brian Cataquet is the first card hobbyist who created a card commercial and placed it on Regional Sports TV Networks (YES & SNY).
I am currently 35 years of age and have been collecting old baseball cards since age 10 (I feel i was ahead of my time in getting into old historic sports cards at such an early age). I became a dealer selling my cards at age 12 @ card shows around NYC. I believe i was blessed in knowing what i wanted to do for a career at such an early age. In 1984 a collecting buddy of mine took me to a baseball card shop in my neighborhood (which i was not aware of) and i saw the owner of this shop selling cards & memorabilia for a living. Seeing all the faces of baseball players mounted on cards & memorabilia in the store, just made me fall in love with their vintage colorful attractive appearance and rich history. At that time, i thought it would be a neat way for a kid like myself to make a little extra money selling cards, and the rest is history.........
In our hobby circle, I am "known for the unknown (cards)" making a name for myself @ age 19 in the hobby press for my major old card discoveries thru the years which updated the hobby's biggest book-Standard Catalog Of Baseball Card Price Guide checklist for many vintage issues. No other competing dealer or avid collector has been more consistent or diversified in discovering unknown vintage baseball cards than the "Catman" Mr. Cataquet.
Here is a list of some of my major vintage card discoveries in the hobby through the years (all were published):

I have consistently been updating Krause Publications Standard Catalog Price Guide for old cards for the last 14 years (again, no other dealer/collector has been more consistent or diversified in their finds than me) as my first card find was in 1994 @ age 19 (Which were the two 1910 orange border card variation poses). The majority of my finds were written about in the hobby publications.
I have been regarded & called an expert in Pre-World War II baseball cards (since it is the Era of cards in which my collecting passion and interest lies) by editors in our industry's publications and have been acknowledged many of times in other hobby publications.
Although i am known for vintage cards, i also enjoy & pay high prices for vintage sports publications. In 2003, I purchased one of the largest (if not the largest) historical collections of vintage publications in NYC with over 7,000 pubs & over 10,000 vintage postcards dating back to the 19th century (written in SCD 2003 page 36).
**In october 2005, Brian Cataquet decided to donate some material from his personal collection to the historical National Baseball Hall of Fame Museum in Cooperstown, NY & I was very honored to have the prestigious Hall of Fame accept some of my personal baseball collection. Because of this donation, the HOF rewarded me with a Certificate and a lifetime Pass into the Hall of Fame.
I look forward to selling my vintage cards & memorabilia to collectors and hobbyist around the Globe! I feel that It has always been my duty to keep coming up with the best unique sports material that's out there (at affordable prices) to please collectors and i will try my best to keep doing that on a weekly basis through my Ebay auctions. Good luck with your card collections and happy collecting to all -- Brian Cataquet, aka Tobeeecat on Ebay.com!
