Watch Co. is a watch & clock sales & service establishment.
Owned and operated by Alfredo "Freddy" Castro, a 25 year
veteran watchmaker. Mr. Castro began his career as an apprentice
to Mr. Duccommon at Minerva Watch Company in New York City. Next,
he studied the repair of Breitling, Wakman and Movado Chronographs.
He moved to Miami, Florida and opened his sales/service store in
1980 at the Seybold Building, the Southeast Region's largest jewelry
exchange. At that time, Freddy began studying electronic quartz
watches. Further, he studied through the Swiss Watch Technician
Center and received a certificate for same. Then he mastered repeaters
and vintage watches with David Kaplan.
As a trusted watchmaker, Freddy built a strong reputation for sales,
servicing and the repair of fine watches and clocks. Being a collector,
he became respected in the industry for his detailed knowledge of
precision watch and clock movements. As time passed, Freddy ventured
outside of servicing and repair, and went into restoration. He would
purchase pre-owned high-end watches and clocks, and then he would
use his expertise to restore them to their original condition. For
the retail consumer this meant and means “Purchase pre-owned
top quality watches at a fraction of their original cost”.
Along with his watchmaking skills, Freddy developed a rapport with
fellow watchmakers and resellers on an international level, traveling
to trade shows worldwide, acquiring watches and clocks which are
then sold in the Miami store. In addition, many of his collectible
items can be seen in auctions at Sotheby's and Christies, both in
New York and abroad.
