![]() Vanity Shot -- Turn 4 at Pacific Raceways, Seattle I like things with two wheels. Hello, and thanks for visiting. I'm here on ebay mostly to support my hobbies relating to motorcycles and bicycles. My current focus is motorcycle roadracing, but I am also a collector & restorer & tinkerer with vintage British motorcycles, classic Italian motorcycles, old American bicycles, and the occasional random two-wheeled thing that catches my fancy. Motorcycle roadracing. It's my bag, baby. For the last nine years I've been spending all my time roadracing motorcycles and working on my racebikes. So most of what you'll see me selling or buying on ebay these days will be related to that. I tried to start out racing on a '69 Triumph Daytona, because I dig my old Britbikes on the street, but it turned out to be not a great choice for learning how to race because it had reliability problems. A brief period with a '94 Ducati 900SS/SP was better, but when that bike was totalled in a race crash which prematurely ended my 1999 season I decided to replace it with a new Suzuki SV650 for 2000. The idea being that a reliable and popular machine (if relatively uninteresting compared to my other bikes) would be a better learning tool. I would be able to focus more attention on developing some racing skills if I wasn't spending as much time working on the bike or tracking down rare and strange parts. That plan worked, and the support and shared knowledge of the SV650 racer community was great in helping me progress. Four years of working my way from the back of the SV650 grids to the front taught me the basics of roadracing, so I decided it was time to get back to racing something weird. I did give vintage racing another shot with a '64 Ducati 250, and while that was fun and provided my first race win, I have to admit that I'd become addicted to going faster than a bike like that will allow. So my current race bike is the 1991 Bimota Dieci shown at the top of this page, which I race in a class for bikes from that era. This bike is a fun and interesting blend of the cool vintage thing and the fast modern thing. I bought the Dieci in rolling basket case condition and then spent a year doing a complete frame-up nut and bolt restoration on it, making it look as much as possible like it did in 1991 when it was first raced by Dale Quarterly and the Human Race Team (pic). 2004 season result: 3rd in class championship. 2005 season result: Class Champion. I mainly race with the Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association I sometimes also race with the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association I am a long time member of the Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiasts The best all-purpose motorcycle site on the web is MicaPeak.com |
