Service of Supply has been making great quality World War II reproductions for over seven years. We strive to create authentic gear at the lowest possible price. We believe that the more people in our hobby the better it will be for all of us. New people to reenacting the Second World War need a source to get the items they need, without having to pay too much, otherwise the quality of the impression drops. At SOS, we end up putting all profits right back into the reenacting game anyway! It is fully understood around here that to make a good WWII impression, you need the gear. The little things are important too. With out the first-aid pouch, you can still do a paratrooper impression. But look at the period photos. You'll see that was an indispensable item that was rarely missing. Listen to veterans. What did they carry? They'll tell you, "everything!" Gas Detection Brassards for the Normandy Invasion- every soldier had one on, so why don't we at a D-Day reenactment? Why should they cost $20 when they could go for $10? If they are priced right, then more people are going to make the purchase and do the right impression.
Reenacting World War Two is about the history. It's all about learning the stories of the men and women who got the United States through the most difficult of times. It's about teaching the next generation all about the lessons of history. Living history and reenacting can do so much for our national culture, opening people's eyes to the incredible stories of the past. It is most important today, especially in our time when public schools are neglecting to teach our true common bond- our history! The one thing we have in common, from coast to coast, is our common history, and the pride that comes from knowing who we were, and what we have done, and how we have changed for the better. Every American needs to learn these lessons to regain the American Spirit that propelled "The Greatest Generation" through the most important period of our history- WWII.
