Hello My Name is Patricia
I work full time, I'm an Engineer for a major Hotel. I have been with the company for 14 years. I love to sew on my 2 days off. I have rasied 6 children,2 from my husband. I have a total of 12 grandchildren (8) granddaughters and (4) grandsons. And a new grandson due 2-11-08. I belong to a sewing group of 200+ ladies(and still growing) called "STICHES - OF - LOVE" . We just recently celebrated our 40th year. What we all do is sew school clothes for the underprivlaged children ages 5-13 years old. We get together once a month for 9 months,we bring in all our handmade dresses, tops, blouses, skirts, shorts, pants, purses, hats, hair ties that we have sewn for the month. And in July for 1 week we set up our "Back To School Booth" in a school gym with other booths. the children are brought in by school bus loads. For this school year we got to clothe 5,000 children, and that went up 500 children from last year. When I first started doing this 7 years ago, I had tears in my eyes just seeing and hearing these children say "THANK YOU" for my new clothes. Each of these children all get 1 new outfit, underclothes, socks, 1 pair of new shoes,a backpack filled with school supplies. the boys get a new Baseball cap, the girls get hair accessories, hat, and a purse. I love to see a smile on a childs face, that is why I do this.
Sincerely,
Patricia
