By Bidding On Our Auctions You Can Help In A Big Way
We are in the process of converting a 20 x 20 foot building into a shelter for the rescue dogs. We have installed drains; poured a concrete floor, put in the electrical system and heating and cooling; insulated the walls; and put in four dog runs. We still need to insulate the ceiling; add more inside dogs runs and some outside dog runs; install running water and finish out the interior. We can currently house 8 to 10 dogs but, when the shelter is complete, we would like to be able to double that.
In 2002, we rescued and rehomed 109 dogs. So far, in 2003, we have rescued 21 dogs. In addition to stray dogs and dogs that are owner releases. Missouri has over 1,000 commercial breeders with an estimated 100,000 breeding dogs. Even with our network of foster homes, it is not possible for us to accept all dogs that need to come into rescue, without adequate facilities to house these dogs until they can be vetted and placed into their forever homes. Although it is not yet complete, our shelter building has already seen a great number of visitors. Our goal is to be able to continue to provide a safe, clean, and warm environment for dogs waiting to go to their forever homes.
Most of the items we sell on eBay were donated by individuals and businesses who want to help pay for the medical and other expenses associated with saving Westies.
