About me
My name is Yovanka and I work & live in a beautiful small cottage, just outside Athens, with my beloved cat, “Foont”.
After getting my International Baccalaureate from the American College in Greece (Pierce College), I went to England where I studied Psychology at the University of Surrey. After graduating, I worked as a magazine assistant editor and later as a copywriter for a large advertising company in Athens.
Art and People always fascinated me and the tremendous satisfaction I drew from combining the two, as a self-taught hobby, in addition to the inspiration and guidance I received from the well-known fellow Greek doll artist Tina Kewy, was what eventually led me to finally choose Doll-making as a career.
I have been earning a living as a professional Doll Maker for the last 3 years, creating anything from large fashion dolls (over 45in tall) for collectors & store displays, to 12in fantasy figurines, to 5in mini babies, either of my own design or as commissioned work.
All my work is true, original OOAK, I do not do limited editions nor do I use (or take) molds of any kind. I have participated and exhibited my work, among others, at AHOY in Rotterdam and the Discover Doll Show in Peterborough.
When I take a break, I love traveling and have visited more than once the USA, UK, Switzerland, Italy, Turkey, Belgium, Holland, Germany and France.
My relaxation hobbies include painting, writing song lyrics, cooking and watching DVDs at home with my friends!
I thank you for taking the interest to read about me!
