ABOUT ME....

THE ARTIST: RONDA KIVETT

I can remember when I was in the first grade, we did all sorts of creative art projects to take home. One day the teacher set out hotplates filled with melted crayons, a rainbow of colors in their own separate dish. I proceeded to paint joyfully while I bickered with the boy that sat across from me. A portrait of myself with a frown, crying huge blue tears while standing in a meadow filled with brilliant flowers that stood twice as tall as me. There were white fluffy clouds in the sky dripping giant blue raindrops and a beautiful rainbow overhead. I can't recall why I painted myself so sad as I stood amongst the beauty. Later that week the school had a student artfair, my crayon painting was hung in the gym for all to see with a blue ribbon pinned to it! I had created little pieces of art before this one but it felt wonderful to have that blue ribbon adorn my artwork and from then on I have had a passion for creating all kinds of art.

As a self taught mixed media artist my creativity thrives on experimentation so I love to work in many different mediums. My medium of choice has always been beads but lately I have been indulging in paper collage, a variety of fibers to make art dolls, found objects, and acrylic paints. Ultimate satisfaction comes when I am able to incorporate all of these elements into my art.

My artwork has been published in Bead & Button Magazine,Crafts Magazine, ARTitude Zine and is expected to appear in Art Doll Quarterly in 2005, as well as being exhibited in art galleries across the United States. I enjoy teaching what I have learned over the years to others and have done so through a variety of classes, kits and by publishing my own artist zine. Bead E Art Zine includes my own personal beading tutorials along with a gallery of related art and informative articles. I have been selling my artwork and making my art doll bead embroidery kits available on Ebay and my website since January 2002.
