Jadta Auto Sales was founded in 1974 by it's current owner, Artie Brooks Sr. Artie grew up in the auto business, as his father owned a Lincoln/Mercury Dealership in Shenandoah, PA. After high school, Artie joined the U.S. Navy and spent 4 years aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga. He received honorable discharge, and worked at his dads store. He soon realized that working for a family business came with its share of challenges. He wanted to become a car dealer, and a friend of his told him about a very buisy Ford store located in Scranton, PA. He moved to Scranton, rented a hotel room, and got a job at Koerner Ford. He networked, raised seed money, developed some contacts, and purchased this store in 1974. It was then operating as a beer distributor. He renovated the building, sold off the beer trucks, and the big walk in beer cooler to raise some add'l $$, and opened up for business. The odd name represents all of the first names in our family. Jacki (youngest daughter), Artie Jr.(only son), Debbie(oldest daughter), Theresa wife of 40 yrs), and Artie Sr. Artie Jr, and Jacki joined the business after both of them graduated from Penn State University. Debbie is a R.N., and works in I.C.U. at our local hospital. Theresa, his wife, sits home, and settles all of the family disputes that arise over the course of the week. ( believe me, there are plenty of them!!) Working with family can be challenging at times, but it also is very rewarding, and as one of our customers, you are not another number. Buying a vehicle from us is a very personal experience, and we consider our customers more friend than customer.
