The Polka Dot Barn Story
We have a family ranch in the Texas hill country. It is there that we have converted an old 1930 barn into a fabulous studio & retail sales building. It is where I create and sell my designs - all in the middle of ranch chores, caring for a husband, three teenage boys, and a continuous flow of their friends and activities. It is my passion and I give God the glory for my gifts. I hope my work blesses you.
That's the story of the business...let me tell you a bit more about me so that you may know me as a person rather than just an auction among thousands!
I am now living my passion - creating art. I only recently discovered that art IS my passion. Having no formal training, I have spent my life being the student who always seemed to get in trouble for oodlinginstead of taking notes, the oster girlfor P.T.A. and the ame tag girlfor church functions. It wasn until I was in my forties that I discovered scrapbooking. From that point on I developed my business, my ministry, my passion.
I grew up in Leawood, Kansas, moving to Kalamazoo, Michigan, in the 5th grade. I attended Portage Northern High School and went to college at Oklahoma State University from 1971-1975. I was a member of Kappa Delta sorority and a little sister of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and still maintain my friendships made in college.
After living and working in Oklahoma City for several years, I married Frank and moved to Center Point, Texas, where we live on the family ranch. Frank ranches, I shop. Oh, wait, no, I create.
As it says above, we have three boys; each one a blessing in his own special way. Two attend college and one is still at home. The fact that we have two boys in college is a really good reason for you to put me in "your favorites" so that you can remember to shop here routinely (not kidding). When I not at the studio, I sleeping, singing at church, maintaining he Pie Lady Ministry mentoring at a kid's shelter where I teach a weekly art class, and leading a weekly bible study at the Center Point High School.
I also spend quite a bit of time working on my [sic]other website, as well as spending a lot of time listing auctions on Ebay! It's my way of getting my work out to as many people as possible so that it may possibly bless someone.
