My new "video lab" where I can make dvds, vhs tapes and It's
Alive
video demos of Tektronix equipment in operation.
Hello to those of you out there who
are collectors, users, or just friends, of Tektronix oscilloscopes and
other equipment. I often hear it said that Tektronix
oscilloscopes are the "Cadillac" of oscilloscopes. I now tell folks,
when they comment on my new Cadillac, that it is the "Tektronix" of
cars! They usually don't get it! LOL
My eBay store is about Tektronix and the classic
oscilloscopes that they produced from the 1950's to the mid-1970's. I
have an inventory of over 50 different Tektronix oscilloscopes. Every
one has been restored and refurbished to a like-new condition. I have
been running out of space, and so am putting them in my eBay store.
Hopefully some of you will like them enough to buy one. Each one is
like one of my grandchildren to me, so you better take good care of it!
Speaking of that I have two grandsons, Aidan and Adam, and I hope
someday they will share one of my inrterests like electronics or
motorcycles.

Oscilloscopes were my interest in
high school, and when I graduated
from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, I went to work at
the National Research Council in Ottawa. I was, what else, an
instrument technician in the Department of Radio and Electrical
Engineering at their Montreal Road facility. But I moved back west, had
a family, and got into computers. Scopes were a lost cause for many
years. In 1999 I retired from a 27 year career with the local telephone
company, and decided to go to university. In May of 2004, I graduated
from the University of British Columbia with my Bachelors degree in
English Literature. Then my love of scopes was rekindled by, you
guessed it, eBay.
As with most boys, my Dad Les played a big role in developing my
interest in electronics. I remember when I was in grade 6 he helped my
build my first crystal radio. He used a paper towel roll to wind the
coil, as I recall. Later we both developed an interest in amateur
radio. My grandfather was VE6TT, and thus we had a lot of contact with
"hams." We took classes from the local club when I was 14, and I had to
wait 2 weeks until my 15th birthday to get my license. My Dad passed
too, his call was VE6LC, and mine was VE6ADU. When I was 18 I left home
to got to SAIT in Calgary to study electronics, but I remained close
with my Dad throughout my life, until the sad day he died October 2,
2005. Thank you Dad for all you did for me, and for loving me in
the best, and the worst, of times.

How else would
a scoper amuse himself on a rainy Sunday afternoon in February? By
stacking the littlest on the biggest of course.

My latest project now finished, a 1979 XR-style
Harley-Davidson Ironhead Sportster Flat Track dirt racer.
