A little about me, Liz Amend...
Since I began sculpting fairy creatures seven years ago, I have met so many wonderful collectors from around the world! Some of these have become dear friends! What I have learned is that people who love or collect fairies, just have to be some of the most wonderful, magic-filled and inspiring people! It has been such a blessing to create my fairies and share them with the world. My continued hope is that they bring to others all the joy and smiles they give me as I am creating them!
When I begin to sculpt I take a quiet moment to meditate. I often envision faerie encounters within Nonesuch Hollow, a little wood, filled with wonderful places and magical creatures. Imagining these little creatures, how they look, how they behave, helps to bring them to life in clay.
My upcoming book, “The Wee Folk of Nonesuch Hollow” is filled with stories of these places, and filled with wonderful photographs of the creatures that inhabit them. As my fairies are more than dolls, I have longed to showcase them, along with the stories and folk lore that I have grown up with, in a book that everyone can enjoy. Meant for the young and young at heart, I hope it will bring happiness and a sense of wonder to those who read it.
As I am finishing a sculpture, I see its unique personality, its little face and eyes looking up at me, and I wonder where she will go. I send each fairy off to its final home with a blessing that she will bring much happiness to her new home.
"You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget that errand." -- Woodrow Wilson.
As always, I am sincerely thankful for all of my collectors! Without you, I could not continue to offer my art on ebay.
THANKS SO MUCH!
Bright Fairy Blessings,
Liz Amend
