HOW I GOT STARTED ON EBAY
My name is Mary Kay Brewbaker and I live in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. I have always
enjoyed retail sales and was an independent book store manager for five great years. After the
charming book store was sold in 1982, I took a vacation to the Virgin Islands to regroup
to ponder what my next step in life would be.
I loved St. Thomas!...the beautiful weather, the beautiful scenery, the calypso music, and most of
all...the beautiful people! My "vacation" turned into an 18 year adventure at the Bolongo Bay
Beach Resort. Hurricane Marilyn blew me back to Pennsylvania in 1996.
Mom and Pop wanted me to stay home and take care of them, so I sought a way to work out of
my home. My mom was cleaning out the basement one day and asked, "What do you want to
do with this book?" Just like that...the light bulb over my head went on and I said, "I'm going to
sell that on eBay!" ...And so my new adventure began!

MY LITTLE BUSINESS
Technically, the name of my business is Kay Kay's Books, Baubles, and Beads. Since I have been
too busy to list my "baubles" and "beads," I have temporarily shortened the name to Kay Kay's
Books.
I have a great respect for books. I want my customers to receive the book they bid on in the
same condition as indicated in the auction listing. That is why I invested in cardboard mailers for
shipping. I get very busy at times, and my sister Cheryl is a big help on busy days following the
auctions, so you can thank her for your fine packing jobs!
This is a non-smoking home. The majority of my inventory are new books, but occasionally I run
across a used book that is too good to pass up. I will always make a note on my listing description
if any of my books have a smoky or musty smell.
I often list a large number of books. Please don't get discouraged. I try my best to keep the
books in groups by topic (i.e. crochet, knitting, quilting, Civil War, gardening). Simply "search" for
marykay20 auctions and ask that they be listed on one page. Then do a "search" (Control + F)
for the topic you are interested in browsing.
I have met so many wonderful folks through eBay and I want to thank them all for their
continued support. You can see by my feedback that a high percentage of my sales are repeat
customers. The greatest feedback I can get is
a customer that returns to my auctions for more great buys. I hope that you will become another
