What is a Vortxrex?
Vortxrex is the name of an amphibious mining machine which I have been developing for about 12 years. In the water it works much like a conventional suction dredge, but it has a very special self priming nozzle and venturi which allow it to operate far above the waterline. I call it the Ultimate High Banking Machine. The nozzle will lift a mixture of air, water, and gravel and convey it to your recovery equipment. A conventional suction nozzle will not work unless the opening is completely covered with water at all times. If you have ever tried highbanking with a suction nozzle you know what I am talking about.
Obsessions and Hobbies
I am a member of the New 49ers mining club in Northern Ca. And love to test my latest generation of Mining Nozzles. I also have a Porsche 937 replica which I built on a 1978 924 chassis and a 1975 911S which I have not yet started working on. The Porsches are fun, but designing, testing, and mining with the latest Vortxrex machine is my true passion. I have built prototypes from 2" all the way up to a monster 6" machine that is powered by a show quality VW engine/Keene p-1500 GPM pump. Four of us dug a 1000 cubic FT hole with this monster back in 1997 over a three day weekend down on the Klamath River in Northern California I will include a link to a website that contains pictures and hopefully MPEG videos of the Vortxrex nozzles as soon as it is ready.
