Kyle's Lemonade Charity Auction for Canine Companions for Independence

Where it all began - with Kyle's now famous lemonade stand...

A young child took it upon himself to ask for a lemonade stand for his birthday so he could help out a charity. Since he liked animals, he heard about Canine Companions for Independence and decided to check the place out. He visited the Northeast Region office of Canine Companions for Independence and as he walked in, he saw pictures on the wall with the smiles on the kids and adults faces who were in wheelchairs sitting next to dogs that helped them. He decided that this was the charity for him. After setting an ambitious goal of $20,000 for someone so young, he started out that day, keeping a journal of all he raised. He has taken his stand to pet stores and parades and talked to clubs and organizations with his lemonade stand giving out bookmarks and answering questions as much as he can. He has never kept a single penny, he has given all he has received to help out this charity he so believes in. Besides his now famous lemonade stand,(coincidentally purchased on E-bay) he decided to have a charity auction and get items from "people who are famous" to help him out. He dictated letters explaining about his charity and the auction. 100% was sent directly to the non profit organization Canine Companions for Independence working with E-bays charity site. He decided to try and raise another $10,000 by continuing to do his lemonade stand, and also thought of getting dog collars and having celebrities sign them and auction those as well, again, 100% going to Canine Companions for Independence. He hoped to reach his goal, but his ultimate goal is to make more people aware of Canine Companions for Independence.

.....and more recent

Animal Radio heard about him, and while interviewing him, learned about his celebrity dog collar auction. With their help and the donation of 100 dog collars from Bamboo, the collars were signed by celebrities and went up for auction only on Ebays Charity site Givingworks. Again, 100% was donated to Canine Companions for Independence. The auction was a huge success, with celebrities from all over, including sports figures, musicians, and even a president, many whom he met and asked personally to sign a collar for his charity auction. He'll be the first to tell you it was a lot of work. Kyle's auctions to assist CCI has now become an annual event. Now a little older, the lemonade stand comes out not as much, but not his ever continued efforts of always thinking of creative ideas of how to make a difference and assist the charity he so believes in. He hoped to reach his goal of making it to $50,000. With his auction, along with a matching donor who recognized his hard efforts,as well as an unexpected local hero award for his charity work which donated directly to CCI in his honor, Kyle surpassed his goal and has helped to assist in raising over $135,000. Now, with a new goal, he hopes one day reach $200,000 with his efforts. Again, he always hopes to reach his goal, but his ultimate goal is to make more people aware of Canine Companions for Independence. Getting older, rather than been seen with the now famous lemonade stand, his concentration is to continue to make more awareness for Canine Companions for Independence with inventive ideas and his annual (sometimes bi-annual) auctions. Now, at age 14, he hopes to one day pass down his lemonade legacy to younger kids who want to help CCI, eventually having a rolling Kyle's Lemonade stand  /100% to assist Canine Companions for Independence  in each state. He credits his suceess and his efforts for the past 7 years with his trademark motto, "You're never to little to make a difference".

Canine Companions for Independence is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by proivnding highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing supprot to ensure quality partnerships.
