All about me!
My name is Paul and I have had an eBay
account for over 10 years now. Like most people I started off by purchasing
various items from already established sellers and from people like you and I
who want to make a little extra money. I marvelled at the range of products that
I could buy and still do to this day. Over the years I have found so many items
at more than reasonable prices that I have now lost count. In almost 11 years of
eBay membership I have only been stung once when purchasing and that was a long
time ago now so it goes to show just how safe eBay is.
I made my first foray into selling on
eBay back in 2001. Back then I was semi self employed. I was working as a
computer repair engineer and as a side line I was buying up old computer
equipment and stripping it for spares. Back then I made quite a reasonable
living out of that but gradually the price of components fell as did the second
hand value and my full time job made more demands on me so for a few years it
was very on/off until it just kind of dried up.
Things changed for me in October 2007
when I was made redundant. This was right at the very beginning of the recession
when nobody knew what was yet to come. I was very lucky that I found a job after
only 6 weeks especially as I am not so young any more. This experience made me
start to think about what I would have done if I had not been so lucky to find a
job and my thoughts turned back to eBay again and internet sales in general. In
my spare time I began to research product ideas and trends until I had a clear
idea of the direction I wanted to go.
At the beginning of 2009 things
started to change at work and not for the better. Things were getting bad and
the talk of redundancies started up. This was a very unsettling time that I am
sure a lot of people can relate to; the uncertainty is a dreadful experience. I
decided that it was time to act and I started to buy in stock, not too much at
first but enough to get started. I put together a website to showcase the
product range and started listing again on eBay. My worst fears were realised in
May when I lost my job. I have stayed positive though and worked hard at my new
eBay business – as one door closes another door opens.
My philosophy over the years has
always been the same – to offer quality products at affordable prices and to
make the buying experience as easy and pleasurable as possible. I always strive
to ship the same day that I receive an order and I refuse to charge unreasonable
shipping fees. In other words I treat my customers the way that I would like to
be treated and my feedback bears this out. I am honoured by the faith you place
in me and I view it as my responsibility to continue to earn your trust in years
to come. I always welcome customer suggestions and I am continually striving to
make improvements to my product range.
