![]() Big and Ugly! Treat people honestly and fairly! I've been a "collector" my entire life [it seems]. Someone with as much "stuff" as I have should probably only sell on eBay, but I buy and sell. I really don't "need" anything... I just love shopping. Some may call it an "addiction", and it may truly be some kind of "disease"... but, honestly ... I don't want to be cured. Ebay is possibly the ultimate vehicle for me. A neighbor once told me (35 years ago).. "I always see you going in your house with bags of stuff, but you never bring anything out..". Well, that observation was (and still is) quite accurate, and, though it may seem a bit (... okay, greatly) dysfunctional, I don't mind it a bit (please try not to get a mental picture of what our home looks like). I'm not really attached to my "stuff".. I've probably given away as much as I have and have also lost things, and let other stuff disintigrate ... oh, well, that happens. I value truth, honesty and integrity ... and I'm committed to treating folks just like I wanna be treated ... FAIRLY. I do enjoy discovering and sharing interesting and unusual items, and I really love the concept of "trading". It's just a little unfortunate that money is involved here, but I manage to rationalize that because I know that with money, I can buy more "stuff". The operative word for me has always been "fun".... if it's not enjoyable, why do it? Sense of Community I've lived in Venice, CA for nearly 40 years. My daughter lived with me, but has now gone off to college ... out-of-state. Venice is a very cool "community". People here are supportive of each other, and we (generally) work together to address local and community concerns. Ebay is also a "community". When I was first interested in joining eBay, I found that there was an abundance of support. Most members were generous and eager to give me information, direction, and advice. The message boards provided information and answers, often within minutes of asking a question. I've explored most, if not all, the other auctions on the internet (most appear, then disappear), and there is no doubt that this is the place. So, for the time being, I'm a victim of eBay's monopoly. Buying stock in eBay might be a good idea (I have none), because they've continually increased their fees and have created a plethora of "extra" features for which they charge. Am I complaining about that. .... duh .. Yes! Speak truth to power!!! Cheers !!!
