I would like to introduce myself. My name is Jen and I am presently employed
by a highly-reputable Veterinary Clinic in Ohio. My background in animals
is rich and varied. In addition to being a Veterinary Technician, I also
managed a highly specialized pet store for nearly 10 years and once served
my local wildlife community as a park naturalist while acting as an
interpretive tour guide for hikers in our beautiful Ohio park system.
Every day I work with numerous dogs and cats, occasional ducks, nest-fallen
baby birds or whatever injured animals people bring to our clinic. Simply
put, I love my job because I love animals, and we have quite a menagerie at
my country home! As I write this, we have a big and lovable rescued German
Shepherd named Reggie (who loves being one of our 'toy testers'), a rescued
tabby cat named Lukie, a rescued long-haired orange kitty name Ollie (AKA
Ron Weasley) and a beautiful rescued black short-haired kitty named Ivy, so
named because she showed up one morning cowering in our patch of English
Ivy. I have two young daughters, each very involved in the local 4H
programs and each with their own collection of critters... goldfish, snails,
toads, tree frogs, chameleons and fat-tailed geckos. Did I mention we also
have a collection of noisy birds? Well we sure do... 2 parrots that never
stop talking, a cockatiel that never stops whistling, a ring-neck dove that
never stops cooing and a yellow budgie that never stops admiring his
reflection in his mirror!
My husband not only shares my love for animals, but he also loves
to build science-gadgets for grade school students. You will see his
creations in our store from time to time as they emerge from his shop. He
has created a workshop in our basement and both of our daughters are learning
how to run the table saw, belt sander and whatever else he has down there.
Our Ebay Store was opened because I missed being involved in the pet shop
industry. It has taken me back in time to my nearly 10 wonderful years of
managing one of Ohio's most well-equipped pet shops, a family-owned store in
business long before the national chains invaded the area. We were
well-established in both products and expertise and had a customer base of
some 3 states -- outstanding in those pre-internet days! Our specialties were
exotic birds and living saltwater reefs, although we offered the most
incredible specimens of reptiles, amphibians, arachnids and insects to be
found anywhere. So varied was our collection that a local TV talk show host
did a 'Bug of the Week' segment featuring our 6 and 8-legged friends!
We would like to thank our wonderful customers near and far who have made our years in business an enriching experience! We have made some great friends both at home and overseas, and we always love to hear how happy your pets are when they get their new toys... it is the best part of our job!
