Our Wonderful Adventures in Geezerland !
As recent retirees,in 1998 and looking forward to those highly touted "Golden Years",we wanted to keep active and productive,but on our terms. Our goal,through this site,is to do that--while also providing folks with items they may want or need.So---Welcome to our Small Wonders site.We sincerly hope you will drop in often,let us know what we are doing right,and also feel free to tell us if anything is wrong!Our introduction to the E-Bay Community
We became interested in buying on E-Bay nearly 9 years ago.Had opened our own little dollhouse shop,in 1999,stocked with hubbys dollhouse creations,and my handmade miniature accessories.People started inquiring about dolls,so we decided to stock them also.Discovered the E-bay site by accident one day,and the rest is history! Due to lack of traffic and interest,we closed our shop in 2002,and switched direction.Our passion has now become estate sales and auctions,and have great luck in finding some really unique items,so hope you will check as often as possible. It has been suggested that we update our page to reflect the changes our lives have taken this year,2005-2006. As parents of nine--we have had our share of problems,but none to compare with this past year.One year ago ,our youngest,37 yr.old unmarried son was diagnosed with metastatic malignant melanoma,and despite the efforts of the finest oncologists,succumbed to this most dreaded cancer on Jan.15th,of this year.We found out yesterday that our 3rd,eldest daughter has been dianosed with the same type cancer. I need to warn any and everyone of this insidious "beast". It is the least understood,most under-rated,and wrongly named cancer out there.So many refer to it as "just skin cancer",and I bristle when I hear this,as it is a name that does not begin to tell the truth of its devastating effects.Sadly--even the medical community is baffled by it and how best to fight it. Everyone needs to do their homework,and they`ll discover some frightening statistics about Melanoma.Our ozone layer is being destroyed,our children are being exposed to things we cannot even know about,and the incidence of melanoma is increasing at an alarming rate. Fair skinned, light haired children are most at risk, though anyone, from any ethnic origin can be affected.Tanning booths should be avoided---actually ,in my opinion--outlawed! There is a wealth of information to be gained at mpip.org.and I urge everyone to have a look,for an education in how prevalent and insidious a disease Melanoma is. This has become our new mission! Thankyou to everyone for your support,we hope to be able to keep on--keeping on,and ask only for your prayers! h3>
