Hi there, my name is Dannielle Rae! I grew up in a very artistic artsy crafty household. We made everything; clothes, furnishings, toys… so, I guess the idea of “creating” was instilled at a very young age. There were quite a few artists in the family, and they liked their titles. I just quietly drew cartoons and Disney characters on my own. I got into graffiti art while I was in high school--no, I didn’t paint any walls--but, I did book covers for friends of mine. My “art” has always been more of a “surprise, you drew that pretty well“ kind of thing.

My creative endeavors were focused to designing and constructing cool clothing and formal wear. I thought, I might be a famous clothing designer one day--but the reality of fittings and other peoples schedules didn’t sit well with me. Any formal paint training came from working as a house painter in the family business, while in high school and during college. I was hooked!! I realized that everything could be transformed with paint--and, I wanted to paint everything. I moved into trying faux finishes, and smaller scale furnishings, then to plaster cast pieces and finally to wood and canvas.  Painting for me is an “otherworld” experience…and I’m completely addicted!! I love using recyclable materials-old barn wood, shingles etc. I think that the natural irregularities in wood grain lend themselves to the movement in my paintings.
