The Family Tree
|
Given the assignment of writing a report on Textiles in the third grade, was the beginning of a very long and exciting journey into the land called, Creation! From that point on I have been consumed with every piece of cloth I have ever touched! I can look at a piece of fabric and see exactly what it will be. Sewing was just the next step, and there again my world would change. I was given my grandmothers 1948 Singer Featherweight, which I still use today, and there was no stopping me!

By the Sea
|
I began experimenting with different textiles using my little Singer, and created some very unusual pieces as well as clothing, for myself and my 5 children. A friend and I opened a fabric store in 1984 in Bend, Oregon, with the children literally under foot, and finally, I had all the fabric I could ever want...(not really)...and added sewing the displays, to my agenda.
I recently closed my fabric shop on the Coast, in Reedsport, with the plan to sell the remaining inventory on eBay. I am a Cancer and a Moonchild, having always been drawn to the ocean. I have lived on Oahu, the Big Island and in Coastal towns, sew~ Fabrics by the Sea just felt natural!
