You never heard of Four Winds Indian Trading Post???
Four Winds is located 3 mi. north of St. Ignatius on Highway 93. It is the oldest Indian Trading Post in Montana. There are 6 historic Montana buildings restored by Preston Miller for over 30 years. They include the Jocko Agency built in 1862 by Major Owen, the first Indian Agency on the Flathead Reservation. The 1885 Ravalli Train Depot houses Preston's large collection of antique toys and railroad memorabilia. The trading post is housed in the original log store built by the Hudson's Bay trader Duncan McDonald & houses a large assortment of Indian made items and supplies of beads, books, mocs, music, etc. Preston & Carolyn's collections include many items pertaining to the American Indian, the Fur Trade & the Hudson's Bay Company, The Improved Order of Redmen, antique toys (with lots of pre-40's trains), railroadiana, etc. They started the Four Winds Indian Auction in 1989 as the first mail/phone auction offering only Indian collectibles to absentee bidders. In addition to authentic artifacts, it is the only auction presenting a separate section with replicas as legitimate collectibles. The annual auction has grown rapidly and expanded to a world-wide market. (SEE BELOW). For more information call 406-745-4336 or email 4winds@blackfeet.net.
