Did you know...........
The world’s oldest living rose is thought to be 1,000 years old. Today it continues to flourish on the wall of the Hildesheim Cathedral of Germany.
The oldest fossilized imprint of the rose was left on a slate deposit found in Florissant, Colorado. It is estimated to be 35 million years old.
Thank you for stopping by to learn a little bit about me and my art work. I'm pleased to meet you! I am a stay-at-home mother of 4, two girls and two boys, (which ought to be explanation enough for my choice of ebay name!). My sister and her family live across the street from us, and my parents live next door .. an arrangement that I am so very blessed to find myself in. We live on a small, private airport here in Illinois as my husband has built his own aerobatic planes and has loved to fly even before I met him. I can name all theparts of an airplane, which bores my friends to no end! I am active in my church as our Volunteer Coordinator, a Sunday School Teacher as well as help plan and paint sets for our annual Vacation Bible School. I am a 'football mom', thoroughly enjoying traipsing through central Illinois, following our youngest son (lineman and quarterback positions) and his football team! I enjoy reading (tho i can't remember when i had time to read anything more than my grocery list), the computer, and so many other things that there is never a chance of my ever Ever EVER being bored. But, just in case there IS a spare moment in the day, 3 of our 4 children have wedding dates within 16 months of each other! The younger of our two daughter just got married Oct 28 of this past year (i'll pop in a photo, below...dontcha just love brides?!) while older of our two daughters gets married this September 30, and our oldest son 5 months later! Ask me anything you want to about weddings...it is just about the only topic of conversation around here!
A Bit about My Art Work
After my family and church, one of the great joys of my life has been flower gardening (sadly, cooking and laundry are low on my list of passions, much to my family's dismay!).Being nose-to-petal with so many flowers has blessed me with an intimate knowledge of their forms, colors, and habits., and has greatly influenced my painting. My love of flowers has been inherited from my mother, who is a natural born gardener.
It seems that every gardener I have met has been inherently creative and so it seems natural that I should have been led to painting. I especially enjoy the creativity of the design process as well as breathing life into my pieces through the use of my paints.
In general, my pieces tend to have a somewhat traditional, perhaps even formal interpretation, with a classic European flair in both design and color, thus insuring pieces of timeless, elegant style. My themes run the gamut from romantic Parisian and opulant elegance to French Provence florals, sophisticated European, and more. I adore intricate designs and my pieces are often composed with much detail that is not visible on a photograph. I feel, and I hope you will as well, that these nuances add to the creation of a truly unique piece with timeless appeal. As a result of the amount of detail and precision work involved in my pieces, they are time intensive creations and so you will seldom see more than a few pieces available at any one time. I take great pride in adhering to my standards of attention to detail, giving each individual piece my full attention.
Not only do I devote much time to the execution of each painted piece, the process of design often takes much longer. I feel it is extremely important for the design to 'fit' the piece, be it a blank canvas, raw wood or a vintage treasure. Of course it would be easier and faster to just paint away ..roses here there and everywhere. But it has always been my need for the design to 'make sense' to its form. I can often spend weeks, months (and in some cases, even a year or two) just looking at a piece, designing in my head, waiting for the piece to 'speak to me', waiting for the inspiration to come and tell me "eureka!"...THIS design is what this piece is calling for. The design and the colors MUST fit together with the piece to create just the right mood, just the right look. It is my hope that you , too, will find a finished piece of art will speak to you as well.

A note about the care of your piece
Thank you for purchasing your painting from Wits-end! As with any fine wood piece, your sign should not be exposed to the outdoor elements without protection. While all of my pieces are finish coated with a high quality exterior acrylic sealant, the sun, wind, rain and other weather conditions may take their tolls. It is suggested - to prolong the quality appearance and the structural life of your piece - that any wood piece used outdoors be resealed at least yearly with any high quality, exterior use acrylic sealant.
Be sure to reseal the back and edges as well as the front of your piece for full protection and uniform weathering. If used indoors, do not hang directly over a heat source and it is suggested that your piece, as with any painting, not be placed in direct sunlight.
Thank You!

I devote many, many hours to developing ideas, to design work as well as the actual execution of each original piece... even so far as to develop my own paint formulas including "Paris Gold". My goal is to provide my customers with artwork that is unique and of the highest quality. I greatly appreciate the support of my customers, and I thank you for your patronage of
Original Pieces By and Signed Witsend
I continue to recieve numerous emails regarding attempted imitations of my works. While i fully understand the freedom of artistic license, we also recognize instances that approach taking advantage of that freedom, and so i do appreciate those fellow ebay artists who continue to show respect for my work, as they do other artists work and indeed their own, by trusting their own unique and remarkable talents.
Praise: quick shipping,packaged well,beautifully hand painted--really pretty-Thanks

That miniature eclairs, fancy cakes, macaroons, glazed or candied fruits, tartlets, and ladyfingers all belong to a category of small fancy cookies, pastries, or confections called "petits fours". The name petit four seems to have originated from the name of the ovens (petit four meaning 'small oven') they were baked in. In France in the 18th century, ovens were made of brick and once the large cakes were baked, small cakes were placed in the ovens as they were cooling down.
. The bikini bathing suit was first unveiled to the public in Paris in 1946. The bikini got its name from the South Pacific atoll where the atomic bomb was tested. Called "Les Montagnes Russes" (Russian Mountains), the first roller coaster was built in Paris in 1804
