Hi! My name is Marilyn Harris and I live in a beautiful part of England near to Stonehenge, a magical and mystical place. I love painting and have done since I was a small child. Any crafts are a delight to me and I have done many over the years, from spinning, knitting, crochet, sewing and art textile, also pottery and black and white photography to name a few. I was trained in the Graphic Arts in the days before computor was used and I still love using black ink for pictures to give a graphic effect. I also love vibrant colours especially purple and green which I use in most of my pictures somewhere! I start each painting first by researching an idea, then sketch roughly onto the paper, ink in the drawing with black waterproof ink and then paint it in with artists watercolour paints. Finally each painting is enhanced with iridescent and gold or silver paint. It takes me about 1 hour to paint each picture sometimes longer.


I have invented the characters Witch, Kit and Cat and I do many paintings/illustrations of them in ACEO size, 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches. Witch and the Cats get up to many antics and can be followed from week to week as I find them new adventures. I also hand write the illustration story on the back of the original paintings and prints. I often get asked if Witch and the Cats could do something particular and so far they have always met the challenge! They are definately a troublesome trio!
