Abbe and Salty-May 2007
|
In 1991 my husband and I acquired our first Maine coon cat, "Cappy" (short for Captain Jordan Schoodic-named after some favorite spots in Acadia National Park, Maine) and we were hooked. In early 1992 we got him a little sister, "Cadie" (short for Jellicle Jenny Acadia). The two of them totally influenced our decision to open a cat themed gift shop in our hometown of Cockeysville, Maryland in 1995.
For 10 years, we operated the shop which catered to cat and dog lovers under the name of The Sign of the Cat, and Cappy and Cadie spent most of their time there in the shop with us, greeting our customers. We specialized in the Cat's Meow Village collectibles line of miniature wood replicas of houses, buildings and landmarks, becoming one of the largest dealers in the country. Along with that, we had a huge demand for great cat themed socks, handbags, jewelry and other accessories and home decor, all in a cat theme. Our cat toy department concentrated on toys that are not generally found in the big pet superstores.
In 2004, we lost our beautiful Cadie to lung cancer, and then in late 2006 our sweet Cappy lost an 18 month battle with lymphoma. During that time we also made the decision to close our shop and continue to do our business strictly on the internet and at local shows in our area. Our lives were not complete without our furbabies and two more Maine coons have joined our family. "Abbe" (Abenaki Lupine Acadia) joined us in early 2005 and was a great friend to Cappy during his illness. In the spring of 2007 we got Abbe a little brother, "Salty" (Captain Salty Claws). They continue to inspire us every day!

Our eBay Store
Our shop was called "The Sign of the Cat" but we have decided to go under the name of " Those Two Cats" on eBay. Our in-person business at shows is still conducted under the name of The Sign of the Cat.
Many of our new current items will be at fixed "buy it now" prices, but we will be selling many auction items at great starting prices as well. You never know what we may have-be sure to check out our auctions regularly!
