We are so thankful to have friends in the arts and entertainment industries who, through their association with the ACLU, enable us to reach a new audience and introduce them to the significance of the role that the Bill of Rights and, in turn, the ACLU plays in their everyday lives. This auction will raise funds absolutely critical to the ACLU's successful defense of constitutional rights. At a time in our history when the retention of hard-won civil rights and civil liberties depends on the ACLU's financial ability to fight back against well-funded conservative political extremists, this auction becomes all the more important. The American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California appreciates every individual who contributed items to our auction as well as all of you who participate by bidding on these special items. Thank you for your support! About the ACLU of Southern CaliforniaThroughout our more-than-80-year history, the ACLU of Southern California has made significant progress in advancing individual rights and equal justice. The ACLU works to secure the rights of all, but most especially of those most vulnerable to discrimination, including women, children, people of color, lesbians and gay men, the poor, people with disabilities, and those with HIV disease. As part of our ongoing commitment to defending the 1st Amendment, the ACLU is proud to have fought and won the battle against the Communications Decency Act to keep the creative community thriving on the Internet -- alive and safe from would-be censors. The Internet exemplifies what our nation's founders sought to protect -- our fundamental right to speak, to know, to explore, to create and to share those discoveries with each other.
