Who is Aeclectic_Ana?

My name is Ana Wiseman and I maintain Books n’ Amor and its affiliates.  Since beginning Books n’ Amor, I find myself elated to wake every morning and discover what new adventures eBay holds in store for myself and my customers!  As a longtime eBay buyer, I have encountered situations with sellers that now, as a seller myself, I can use to grow and expand upon.

Influences:

Growing up, I saw my father as a model for what I wanted to become. Working in telecommunications, my father branched out to create his own business when I was very young. Through his example, and passionate encouragement, I have seen what it takes to make a successful business and have the same passion to pursue such an endeavor. His steadfast encouragement, “You can do anything you put your mind to, as long as you are willing to put forth the effort…” and “…doing what you love and helping people will bring you money.” have lead me to embrace my job with all of my heart and treat my customers as if they were my own family.

What Type of Store is Books n' Amor?

We are essentially a variety store. Books n’ Amor sells a wide variation of books, ranging from education and instructional to action and humor. Computer games, CDs, rugs, and much more you are sure to love!

Why are all of the Listings Paired with eBay Giving Works and the Hydrocephalus Association?

When I was 5 months old, I developed a condition called “acquired non-communicative hydrocephalus” more commonly known as obstructive hydrocephalus. Obstructive hydrocephalus occurs when cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is blocked from flowing correctly within the skull. The normal treatment for most forms of hydrocephalus is to “shunt” a patient.

Shunting is a procedure where a surgeon passes a tube from an opening in the brain to a place where the excess fluid can drain to relieve the pressure, usually the heart or stomach. Until my senior year in high school, my shunt worked correctly. Then, the tubing broke and I endured 18 surgeries which were unsuccessful.  I received an E.T.V. (Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy) procedure from another hospital and was essentially cured of my form hydrocephalus. (An E.T.V. can only be performed on hydrocephalus caused by blockage.)

In Memory of C. Calvert Lancaster

January 18, 1922 - October 12, 2008

Since my ordeal, my mission is to educate all people and raise awareness for hydrocephalus, so that it is a household name just like Autism and Parkinson’s disease. Also, for those suffering from obstructive hydrocephalus, my mission is to inform them (and their families) of an alternative to shunting.

Some Facts about Hydrocephalus:

There are approximately 75,000 discharges a year from hospitals in the United States with a diagnosis of hydrocephalus.

Another 6,000 children annually develop hydrocephalus during the first 2 years of life.

Hydrocephalus occurs in approximately 1 in 500 to 1,000 births.

Hydrocephalus is MORE common then Down syndrome and deafness combine!

Hydrocephalus can develop from hitting your head in a car accident and even contracting meningitis.

There is currently no cure for hydrocephalus.

Return Policy-

Returns are accepted within 7 days for store credit. If an item is lost by postal service, compensation (in the form of store credit) will result. Most items, especially the jewelry we sell, are one of a kind--it cannot be re-shipped. A return label is not yet included with purchase. Any charges are the buyer's responsibility when returning an item. Any item(s) returned must be in the same condition it was when shipped.

Terms of Sale-

Payments are expected within 7 days of sale. I will ship your item within 1-3 business days after payment has cleared. I only ship within the United States, not internationally. PayPal and credit cards accepted--international PayPal not accepted. I do file an unpaid item claim with eBay for all buyers who do not pay within the 7 days. Refunds for items returned in the 7 day timeframe after sale will be given in the form of store credit.  

Shipping Policy-

We ship with the United States Postal Service (USPS) using flat rate. Shipment will commence (usually within 1-3 days) after payment is received.

We offer a shipping discount! You pay the highest shipping cost then any additional shipping is only $2.00!

We charge a $1.00 handling fee for packaging supplies, on most items.

Is Third Party Checkout Used?

No. So you have nothing to worry about with us! You will not be redirected to an unfamiliar site to complete your eBay purchase. You will only use the trusted eBay and PayPal checkout forms.
