Hello, and welcome to aeomaia art, my e-studio and portfolio of projects, experiments and assorted snippets of information. Think of it as a calling card, a business card and a wild card that will help you learn a little more about me and my artwork.

Aeomaia is my spelling of the name paleontologists gave the world's oldest mammal fossil. She was just a little tiny mouse-like thing, but she marked a sea change in the history of the natural world.

Aeomaia means 'dawn mother', because she was the first mother who nurtured her children. I liked the sound of that -- EEE-oh-MY-uh -- and I liked the image of a primal ancestor shrouded in the mists of time. And so, I found my artistic alter-ego, the name for the essential force in me striving to create, to capture what the world looked like to me.

I like to think of my art as my gift of joy to the universe, a whole generation of creations that touch people I'll never meet in person. Thanks for being one of them.

When I was a kid, I drew all the time. When I was a bigger kid, I painted and did some other things, too. When I went to college, I majored in art, and when I graduated, well, I thought I should grow up, let go of all that kid-stuff and get a 'real job'. Now it's a while later, and I've had a bunch of real jobs. I did the real jobs pretty well, but something was missing.

So I did it. I walked away from the 'real job' in March 2006. With plenty of love, support and encouragement, I'm making my way as an artist and a writer.

I'm creating again, reaching out and finally putting that dusty old art degree to use. I'm getting my feet wet first on eBay, and I have my first local art show under my belt. I'm dreaming big, making plans, and then, who knows?
