I am currently still on maternity leave! My little bundle of joy takes up more of my time than I anticipated (the folly of many a new parent I'm sure).
I plan to re-open the store in a few months when I'll have some help in this regard.
I miss my store terribly and looking forward to opening once again soon.
Please do check in from time to time!
Thank you,
Karen

All about
Old Madala's... |
My name is Karen & I
live in Johannesburg, South Africa (
) & I have a passion for African
art. Because South Africa has many immigrants from all over Africa, I'm
lucky to have access to a colourful & interesting bunch of characters
who bring beautiful pieces from their home countries into South
Africa. I am not a typical
collector/seller, in that I choose my pieces not only for tribal use
& age, but also for aesthetic beauty or mystery. Some pieces are
new, but stylistically interesting & beautiful & I feel that
they deserve a place on the African art
stage. |
My main
focus is African collectibles and art, as I
live in Africa, have travelled to and still travel to many African countries, finding
all sorts of wonderful items. This is one of my true passions in
life. Countries include Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia,
Tanzania, Swaziland, Mozambique and Namibia.
Every item in my
store has been carefully selected and is authentic. I often travel long
distances to find unique & interesting artifacts. And because African
art is my passion, every item chosen is very special and beautiful to me.
In fact, my house is cluttered with items I'm supposed to sell - but I
can't bear to part with them! So, if you are
looking for genuine African artifacts, what better place to find them -
than here?

The word 'Madala' is a
generic term understood by many locals & in many native African
languages as 'old man'. |
