BLACK OPALS DIRECT FROM THE MINE
My mates and I have been mining at Lightning Ridge for 7 years. We have 2 mines on the established Cochran opal fields at Lightning Ridge. Our family is in the opal business and my Uncle and Dad have sold hundreds of my stones at the Tuscon and Denver shows in America. Our first mine we called Ghost Tree, as it has one single dead tree on the claim and has jet black nobbies at the 30 foot level. These nobbies are hard to find but cut good black opal, they are always in demand by wholesalers.
The other mine has more semi black crystal opal on two levels 24 feet and 40 feet. Peter Sedawie and Stuart mine at these sites and cousin Jason Sedawie handles the internet, enquiries and shipping.
