My display at a local Craft Fair

Hi! I am Debbie and WELCOME to Agnes*sAttic!  I am 51 years old, married for 31 years to Joe, who is a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. We have 2 sons, Joe, who is 27 and Jim, who is 25. Joe has moved out on his own but Jim is still home with us. I live in a townhouse that was built in the 1970's which I have decorated in the Victorian Style by frequenting flea markets, yard sales and estate sales. I also have a knack for "inheriting" interesting  items from friends and family. My latest is a beautiful Tiffany Lamp that Joe's Aunt Mary gave me. My love of the Victorian Era sprouts from vacationing on the Jersey shore and visiting Victorian Cape May for  most of my childhood and adult years.

I do love old homes but unfortunately, I have never lived in one. My father was a carpenter by trade so the 2 homes that I lived in as a child were built by him, brand new. When Joe and I bought our townhouse 6 months before we were married, it was also new. New homes lack the character of old homes so I had to try and create "character" in my home. Fortunately, I am my father's daughter and even though he passed away over 22 years ago, I carry his spirit with me forever. I am the one who has done all of the painting, wall papering, basic carpentry tasks, hanging of pictures( and my walls are COVERED) and respackling of holes in the walls and gardening which included laying a brick walkway and a brick patio that I have since taken apart and made a flower bed out of.

 I am an RN by profession and have worked  full time night shift for the past 28 years in a hospital based Physical Medicine (Rehab) Unit. Recently, I have had several health issues including a bout with cancer of which I am completely free of at the present time. I have crafted my entire life and have always wanted to be able to participate in craft fairs or have my own shop. So I decided that life is too short and I was going to GO FOR IT! In April of 06, I did my first Craft Fair and did well which encouraged me to give Ebay a shot. I was also pleased by how well my crafts were received on Ebay. I now do several local craft fairs each season. I am so excited about this because I am finally living my dream. Crafting is a hobby for me and now I get the chance to earn a bit of "play money" from it. Everything happens for a reason, even cancer, and I would not be doing what I love if it wasn't because of the new lease on life that it gave me. I am also having a great time with The Victorian Friendship Society of Northeastern Pa. which both my husband and I have recently joined.

  I am still working full time as an RN but would love to be able to cut back to part time. Maybe some day.....  As you may have guessed by now, I am an extremely independent spirit!!! Luckily for me (and him,LOL!) Joe lets me do whatever I chose to do in our home and in our lives!

 My home is filled to the brim with all kinds of collections such as tea cups and saucers, angels, crystal, Thomas Kincaid items, tea pots, 1940's red and green kitchen items, depression glass, Moss Rose China, Blue and White transferware, antique lamps, Home Interiors pictures and figurines and anything that remotely looks Victorian or Edwardian!! I am constantly recycling things because my friends say that I am the Queen of all shoppers and can never bypass a bargain. Where I live is within walking distance of the largest shopping area in my County in Penna. 

 I have  taken over running our church's yearly 3 day flea market, again! I took a year off due to health issues. Our all time high profit was $6000 made on flea market items!!!!  I also assist with running biannual craft fairs,was chairperson for  a Spring Tea and I participate as a hostess for our Harvest Tea at our Church. With all of this, being a vendor at some local craft fairs and working full time, I have very little spare time. Because of this, I have not and most likely will not be selling on Ebay any more.  By the way, Agnes was my paternal grandmother which I never met as she passed away before my parents were even married. I proudly display her victorian wedding picture in my Dining Room.
