Hi! My name is Andy Metz, and I have been living in Ireland since 1994. I also lived for some years in Sweden and before that, England and Wales, but am originally from the great State of Maine. I started collecting Ancient Greek coins when living in London in the mid 1970's. I started selling them as a way to stay home and take care of my son, Paddy. I no longer collect, so you can be sure that I am not holding aside any choice coins I come across. I sell coins that I buy at auctions internationally, as well as having a number of consignors who send me coins to sell for them, giving a wide variety of types available for sale.
I DO tend to sell the higher value coins on my VCoins site though, so please email me about it, as I am unable to give the link on this page due to ebay rules. :P
I pride myself on offering good quality coins which are accurately described and fully referenced. This seems to rarely be the case among other sellers on ebay. I also try to give the very best customer service. I respond promptly to questions from ebay members, and always ship on the same day or following day after payment had been received. I also leave feedback as soon as I know that payment has arrived.
For those of you uncertain about shipping times, packets usually arrive in the EU in 3 to 5 days, and to the U.S.A. in 3 to 7 days, depending on which coast you live on. Registered packets rarely take longer than 7 to 10 days worldwide, and usually arrive much sooner.
I cannot stress enough the importance of paying for registered post for any contents worth over $50. THE POST IS NO LONGER AS RELIABLE AS IN THE PAST!!! As well as the loss to the customer, packets that go missing also remove the wonderful coins that have survived for thousands of years of history and conflict, and this is a loss to humankind. SO, PLEASE insure your coins!

Most questions can be answered by simply reading the information on the item page.
Q: Do you combine shipping?
A: Yes. Coins up to about 50g combined weight will all go together for the same basic rate. I am willing to wait UP TO TWO WEEKS for buyers to combine their purchases so as to save on shipping, but you MUST contact me to set this up.
Q: What does _ mean?
A: Many questions are asked about basic abbreviations used in the item descriptions.
Metals used in ancient coins are AE = Bronze, AR = Silver, AU = Gold, EL = Electrum (a naturally occurring mix of Silver and Gold), and Bil. = Billon, a debased mix of Silver and lesser metals.
This is followed by a number after AE, which is the diameter in mm.
Next is a weight given in grammes, accurate to 1/100th of a gram.
O: stands for Obverse (the front of the coin), then R:, for Reverse (the back of the coin).
At the end are the references. SG = Sear, Greek Coins and Their Values, 1998, 2 volumes. SNG Cop = Sylloge Nummorum Graecorum, The Royal Collection of Coins and Medals Danish National Museum, a multi-volume set. Lindgren = 3 volume set of bronze coins from the H.C.Lindgren Collection by Kovaks + Lindgren, 1985-1993. BMC = Catalogue of the Greek Coins in The British Museum in multiple volumes. Rosen = Early Greek Coins from the Collection of Jonathan P. Rosen by Waggoner, published by the ANS in 1983.
Q: Do you accept payment other than paypal?
A: Most emphatically YES! Between ebay and paypal fees, I lose well over 10% of each sale, higher for inexpensive coins. I accept payment in Euro and $US in the following ways: Cash, International Money Orders, Post Giro, Western Union, Personal Checks, and Bank Cashier's Checks. For customers in the EU, I also accept bank transfer to my account via IBAN/Bic(Swift) - email me for the account details. These payment methods give you a $1.50 discount off the shipping fees!
