WELCOME TO MY PAGE
Thank you for dropping by!
My son and I have been lampworking since we took a class from Larry Brickman in 1999. We had gone with a friend to a bead shop in Seattle. She said we just had to see the bead making class. She was right! We signed up for the next class we could get into and have both been making beads since then. We now have a Minor burner, a Beth Baraccuda, a Beth PM2D and two kilns set up in our garage.
My background is in fish biology and environmental studies. As a child, I absolutely loved what we called "spun glass", mostly little animals made out of clear glass, usually seen at county fairs. I knew then that this was something I wanted to do but life intervened (as it so often does!) so I had to wait a few years to do what I really wanted to. I had forgotten how magical it is to watch someone create something out of flame and glass until I saw the class in Seattle. The rest is sort of history. This has truly become an obsession!
I have been very fortunate over the last 12 years to study with a number of accomplished glass artists: Larry Scott, Corina Tettinger, Andrea Guarino, Michael Barley, Jim Smircich, Kate Fowle and Luci Bubacco.
I have also begun to teach lampworking. I have a website where you can learn more about me and the beads I love to make. Please visit! kimberlyaffleck.com
