Ancient Alchemists tried to change base metals like lead into gold. The purpose in naming my eBay store The Alchemist's Stockroom is to celebrate my love for Chemistry (my college degree) and my passion for books - because I feel that reading can transform your life to gold!
About Me: I am a 50+ former chemistry & math teacher & tutor at the junior college and high school levels. Unfortunately I have had serious disabling health issues that prevent me from continuing in this line of work. Now my focus is to sell the best books that I can find in an effort to promote literacy and a lifelong love of reading. My name is Jean. I will be packing your order, answering your e-mails, and going to the post office to ship your books, usually every day of the week.

PAYMENT: Ebay now only allows PayPal unless there is local pick up (contact me for different forms of payment requests for local pick up). Please pay within 7 days of purchase. Unpaid item reminders are sent out automatically after 7 days for ALL buyers – so please do not take it personally. You must use PayPal and have a current valid PayPal-confirmed shipping address to receive delivery confirmation. Sorry, NO personal checks. Washington state residents pay sales tax.
TRACKING - Where is your package? Tracking information is now available on each buyer’s “My eBay” Summary page so look there first. PLEASE check there or on the "Order Details" link in the ended auction and postal links which appear there before e-mailing me to ask when it was mailed. You can also log into your PayPal account to check the status of your shipment. You should receive an automatically generated email from PayPal shipping when I print your label, which will include a tracking number through USPS for media mail. Your delivery usually takes 4-9 business days continental US, but occasionally can take up to 2 weeks or longer, especially to the East Coast. Alaska, Hawaii, PR and APO/FPO addresses may take 3-5 weeks in shipment. Occasionally I do not print labels but use USPS postage stamps (often for items shipping by first class such as Quidditch & Fantastic Beasts) and so I will not be able to provide tracking information for you.
MEDIA SHIPPING RATE - This is the way that most books, CD's, DVDs, and tapes are mailed. It is sometimes slow and can be as slow as 2 weeks or longer for domestic packages, but usually 4 – 7 business days. This is the standard method of shipment unless you upgrade to Priority Mail for a substantial increase in cost.
PROMPT SHIPMENT - Shipment is almost always made within 24 hours of receiving payment. I often am able to ship the same day. I will do everything to get your item(s) to the Post Office as soon as I can, usually the same or next day when after payment is received. HOWEVER, I do not control how the USPS fulfills their part of this transaction. I can not be responsible for delays of the USPS, especially around the holidays.
RETURN POLICY: Occasionally an item may slip by with a slight defect I did not notice. You must contact me within 7 days of item receipt and may return the item in exchange for an identical one. If I am out of stock, I will give you store credit for merchandise or cash refund at my discretion. If the items are not as described, I will give a full refund including return postage, or a partial refund with the items kept (You must contact me first before returning items!). If the item is as described but you are unhappy with it because you made a mistake in selection, I will try to work with you. Read the listing very carefully and look at the pre-filled item specifics. I am not responsible for your inability to read the listing, but I am flexible and willing to work with you to insure customer satisfaction. Refunds will be issued for purchase price only if item is returned undamaged within 7 days in original packaging. Buyer pays original plus return shipping charges unless the fault is mine.
OUT OF STOCK: From time to time items may become out of stock. Despite my attempts to manage an inventory that has about 5000 titles, occasionally I go to ship a book and can not find it on the shelf. I hate this more than you do. If this happens, a full refund will be given. I am in the process of purchasing a barcode scanning and inventory management system to help eliminate these errors.
FEEDBACK: With the 2008 changes that ebay has made to this system, feedback has basically become meaningless. I will try to post positive feedback after payment is made, but may wait until you have posted feedback to insure that the transaction is complete and that you are satisfied with everything. Feedback extortion will be reported to ebay. I trust that you, an intelligent ebay buyer, won't consider relevant the odd negative or neutral feedback among the hundreds and thousands of positives as a mark of a bad seller. They are the result of an honest seller doing my best to provide satisfaction, not always succumbing to the threats of buyers who may be trying to take advantage of the situation, or the result of ignorant new buyers. I consider leaving positive feedback first as just another way to reassure my buyers that I have done exactly what I said I would.
CHARGEBACK POLICY: Customers who initiate charge backs through PayPal are immediately blocked from further bidding or buying from any of my eBay listings. Please check all listings and ask all questions before bidding.
PROBLEMS: If someone has a problem (rare) with ANYTHING I've sold, and posts negative or neutral feedback BEFORE communicating and giving me a chance to make things "right" - my involvement with that transaction ends with the posted feedback. Occasionally defects are overlooked and should anything be amiss in your order, please contact me BEFORE leaving feedback so that I have an opportunity to correct the situation. I never make any deliberate mistakes, and am only human. Communicate and let me know!
