My name is Wanda, but to eBayer it is Alleyscat. My Granddaughter name is Alexandra, Alex for short, and when being a
pain, we were constantly saying, Allie, scat!; It was then that she acquired
many names. Allie and just plain scat were most common used names. When trying
to come up with a name for eBay, Allie was being Allie, and I decided to use Alleyscat. (It really should be Alleyscat and her kitten. My daughter does 50%
of each auction. So if you find misspelled words in our write-ups, blame her!)
She does a wonderful job and we enjoy working together.
I
live in Ohio, the wet state. I am married to a wonderful Guy, David, He is an
Electrical Engineer, and we have 6 children. They are all out of the home now,
(living that is, they are constantly running in and out) and we have 12
Grandchildren. Hailey Page was born on April 04 2006. This makes six boys and six girls. There is Zachary, Justin, Ashley, Jessie, Austin, Allie, Tommy, Taylor, David, Josh, Emily and Hailey. WOW! I got em all! It is a blast at Christmas Time when they all come to visit Nana and Papa! We love it!!
I
do have a full time job; I am employed as Vice President at EMT, Inc. in Warren, Ohio. Our Company does the Industrial Electrical Control world wide. I have enjoyed traveling through out China, Europe, Taiwan, and our beautiful United States. Often living in foreign countries for months at a time until the Job is completed. Of all the places I have traveled My second home is Kaohsiung Taiwan. I have many close friends there and love it as much as I do in Ohio. It is a wonderful job, and I am not ready to give it up just yet.
I
have been a Barbie supplier for my daughter most of her life. (You know,I want
this, I want that, please Mommy, Please! She has collected since she was 10.
She decided to sell her collection and we found eBay. It did not take long for
me to be addicted. My husband insisted I find a hobby for years other than work.
Well now I have one! Our collection has tripled, and we love buying and selling
on eBay. In my spare time we now attend Barbie Auctions and really love it. We
enjoy working eBay together. If I have to be out of town on Business, I try not
to schedule auctions, but if something happens at the last minute, she takes
over to assure buyers they don have to wait on items purchased, or sellers to
wait for payment.
We purchase 90% of the Barbie Dolls and Fashions we sell on eBay at a well
known arbie And Friendsauction held two to three times a year here in Ohio.
It is so much fun, plus we get to examine the items and ask questions before we
bid and purchase. Often we gather information from the original owners and if
this is not possible, we find out as much information about the items and dolls
from the Auctioneer or affiliates connected with the auctions.
No! We are not allowed to go into the auction with a Q-tip and
alcohol, so without additional information we are never positive.
The information we pass on to bidders on eBay is acquired from many hours of
research, through reading, contacting xpertsand collectors along with the
information acquired at the auctions before we list, but still base the
information on ur Opinion
It is a fact that the Vintage Barbie and Fashions were made for children and
many were abused, played with and loved. Dolls heads were switched, legs were
chewed and often some nasty ilbrother disfigured her with ink pens. The
fashions had many tiny pieces and some were lost. It is much fun to gather
pieces to complete a fashion set. We have run into eproductionsadded to
complete a collection and sometimes it is difficult to determine the difference.
It takes hours of investigation and trying to find the original pieces to
compare. We do this to be able to present the items either original or
reproduction. Never do we state or a factif we are not sure.
When we first started selling some of the Barbie we had collected we tried the
lcohol testand ruined several Barbie. We were advised to keep the alcohol
off the Barbie. It certainly takes face paint off of a restored Barbie, often
causing staining on area that have been restored. It can also cause drying to
riginalmake-up and cause cracking and ip chip We also learned that
sometimes dolls have been restored and a sealer was used to keep the paint in
tact and alcohol does not remove
this.
(Alcohol
proves othingsometimes!)
After many disasters, added expense to have dolls restored, and being informed
to keep the alcohol FF we no longer will do any type of alcohol test on any
Barbie or Friend. We use a very high powered lens on our camera and it usually
detects any sign of chipping, flaw, or restoration. With information we have
gathered and photo we display we provide as much information as humanly
possible to future owners. We are not experts, we don claim to be, we are
collectors! We are honest sellers and list as much information as possible to
future owners. We respect all Sellers, buyers and bidders and appreciate their business. We ask the
same respect in return. It makes eBay more fun. With this information we hope to
continue buying and selling to people we have already met and new friends world
wide.
My love for taking pictures of the places I have traveled has inspired me to
take pictures of Barbie in different settings displaying her beautiful outfits.
I like to use some of the photos of the places I have traveled as themes for
Barbie. Thanks to Kinko I can use these photos as backdrops and share my
travels along with displaying these wonderful dolls. I hope those viewing my
auctions enjoy them as much as I enjoy displaying them. I appreciate all the
wonderful people that purchase from our auctions, and I love finding the
beautiful things that are for sale. Happy Day, Wanda (Alleyscat) and Daughter
I have found a great Vintage Barbie

does wonderful restoration! If you have trouble distinguishing and identifying
your Barbie this is a wonderful and informative site. Thanks Krista for your
time and help, it has been wonderful!
Since I have started selling on eBay I have had so much help from others. This I
am grateful for. With the encouragement and advice I have learned "so much"
about Barbie and putting up my auctions.
I would like to give a "Special" Thanks to Becky. You are the Greatest!
