NORDIC WALKING FOR HEALTH & FITNESS

I launched The American Nordic Walking System and WWW.SKIWALKING.COM Nordic Walking Poles after a running injury forced me to give up marathon running.

As a ski coach my athletes had been hill bounding and ski walking during the summer to stay in shape for the next ski season, but I never considered the benefits of walking with poles for ALL of us - until I was forced to give up distance running. The poles reduced the stress to my shins, knees, hips and back. The poles also added more purpose to walking - engaging the arms and upper body muscle groups.
THREE GENERATIONS - NORDIC WALKING USA

As a ski coach I also knew that cheap twist-lock poles were not ideal for Nordic Walking. Hundreds of our new customers accidentally purchased cheap twist-locking poles from other companies - they loved the concept of walking with poles, but hated the twist-locks that failed, rattled, vibrated and/or broke. They found our poles so much lighter, durable and user friendly. Also the straps on the cheap twist-lock poles are knock-offs and not real Nordic Walking Straps.

We specialize in selecting the perfect length poles for each individual's height.

Perfect length poles help us to automatically walk with a super straight back - better walking posture is biomechanically a good thing. This improved walking posture when combined with the unique 4-Wheel-Drive type action of walking with poles radically reduces the stress to the shins, knees, hips and back. Nordic Walking is low impact and yet provides a highly effective workout - burning more calories and working more muscle groups than regular walking.
