Ammolite is a fossil gemstone, which is governed by the Canadian Cultural Property Control List, and requires disposition from the Alberta government. In other words, the material must be inspected by the proper authorities, and released with the proper documentation. Much of what you will see on ebay has not undergone this process.

 

 Aurora Ammolite Mine is an open pit ammolite mining operation, and one of only two in existence. We operate under the permission and supervision of the Alberta government and the Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology. We are proud to produce and sell gem grade ammolite of a quality that can only be recovered from a mine.

Ammolite Quality and Grading

Our stones are graded objectively according to industry standards. Every seller on eBay has their own method of grading (some are very generous to themselves), so grading for the purpose of comparison is meaningless.
