As experienced steam shower sellers on ebay we have learned over the years that there is no substitute for quality. Yes, initially you may pay a little more buying an Aquapeutics steam shower but the long term benefits of having a sturdy, durable massage steam shower far outweighs the nightmare scenarios you will encounter settling for an inferior product at a “great” price. Unfortunately too many people fall into this trap only to have many headaches six to twelve months down the road. We know this first hand because we too were guilty of offering inferior products to our customers at a great price. Although our intentions were good we soon found out that what we thought was a satisfactory product turned out to be quite frankly….junk. In fact, many of the steam shower units you see on ebay today are the very ones we sold when we first starting selling steam showers. On the exterior the steam showers looked great but when we inspected the components up close we were quite simply horrified at what we found. Plastic valves and faucets, paper thin acrylic, loose fitting fixtures, and insufficient steam generator output were but a few of the issues we discovered. We realized quickly that if we wouldn’t install one of these steam showers into our very own home how could we possibly ask our customers to? From that day forward we made it our mission to obtain only the highest quality in massage steam shower products.
Before buying a steam shower ask the seller these questions:
1.) Why is it so cheap? If you’re paying less then $3,500 for a large massage steam shower then YES, the price is too good to be true! The old saying, “You get what you pay for couldn’t be more appropriate with a luxury steam shower!” STAY AWAY FROM NO RESERVE AUCTIONS!!! THIS IS A DEAD GIVEAWAY!
2.) How thick is the acrylic of the tub? Ask the seller if the acrylic can be compressed when pushing on it with your fingers. Over time tubs made of thin acrylic will fade and crack. What looks good today will look absolutely horrible in about 2 years.
3.) Are any of the valves made of plastic? This last question needs no explanation. “Think plastics,” may have been a great piece of advice for Dustin Hoffman in “The Graduate,” but trust me when I say it is not something you want in the inner components of your steam shower. All Aquapeutics components are made of brass or copper.
4.) Are the fixtures loose? Quite simply put if the hot and cold water faucet fixtures are loose now then you can only imagine what types of problems you’re going to have down the road.
5.) How many total amps does the steam shower require to operate? If a large steam shower requires more then 35 amps to operate then there’s something wrong. Many sellers are misleading customers into thinking that 110V steam showers are just as effective as 220V steam showers. What they’re neglecting to mention is that it takes twice as much amperage to operate a 110V steam shower which is completely unsuitable for the average home. Read the 110V myth in the specifications section below.
6.) How large is the steam generator? Most competitor’s steam showers offer 3KW steam generators which just isn’t enough output. The Aquapeutics U689 has a 4.5KW steam generator and superior steam delivery system.
7.) How long will it take to ship the steam shower? Sellers offering 5-9 week shipping are counting on the fact that after 45 days you won’t be able to dispute the purchase through Paypal. This means your stuck with what you get! If a seller can’t ship an item to you in 3-4 weeks or less then be very suspicious. They’re either not going to ship it to you or they’re shipping you junk!
